My stomach turns watching Grant Williams getting wide open looks all while Hauser plays G league. Imagine Hauser getting those open shots. some here may point to Grant being a better defender. perhaps (I have no idea about Hauser yet) but is Grant's defense that far superior?? to offset the threat of a shooter (with more size)??

Baby Celtics' game is free on YouTube if anyone wants an appetizer before the Bucks.

I watched Maine (vs Delaware) on NBATV today and they gave up a big lead too lol. But then they fought back and won in the final minute. Arcidiacono made a nice pass to Pinson for a slam and then Arch made and jumper and couple free throws to seal it. I was annoyed for a minute but it was a fun game and a good win.

Nice win by Maine.
Pinson had a big game with 30 points and 4 rebounds. Lights out shooting, going for 12-18 from the field and 5-7 from 3s.
Hauser looked good with 19 points and 7 assists. The 7 assists were impressive.
Archie was in foul trouble in the 1st half but came on strong in the 2nd half and finished with 19 points on just 8 shots to go along with 8 assists. Great shooting by Archie, 6-8 from the field, 3-4 on 3s.

G-League or not, those are pretty good numbers.

Hauser is the real deal.. G league or not.. one day, he will be on a NBA roster knocking down 3s at a high clip.. Just don't think it will be with Boston..

Grant is a ridiculously better defender. And what size difference are you talking about? Grant's stronger, has a longer wingspan and a bigger standing reach.
Love Hauser's shooting but Grant is making 40% on decent volumes while playing way better D.
Our shooting woes are primarily related to:
1. Schroder and Smart - not sure much to fix here, neither are good shooters but we need them in the lineup. Just hope Smart can be more like 32-33% vs 27%.
2. Tatum and Horford - they will let back to where they historically have been before long. Both looked much better shooting the last 2-3 games.

Grant Williams is shooting 43% from three. SSS but he is 20th in the league. I think it’s a safe bet that Hauser wouldn’t have done better.

What if we switched our Celtics teams? Just see what happens for a game or 10.

Maine Celtics 15.9 3PTM (1st) on 38.3 3PTA (6th) for 41.4% (1st, second is Sioux Falls at 38.3%). Gleague 3PT% average: 33.6%
Boston Celtics 11.3 3PTM (16th) on 36.7 3PTA (12th) for 32.4% (27th, only Detroit, Washington and OKC are worse). NBA 3PT% average: 34.4%

I don't know if most of those 3 point % would carry over to the NBA. But a more "progressive coach" seeing the need and weakness of Boston would have been trying to acclimate a great potential shooter in Hauser already.
Coach Ime has clearly proven he wants "veterans. Even ones with career poor shooting %.. He has no clue (probably because he was an NBA scrub) the importance of building giving confidence to young players.

Full game highlights.
Brodric Thomas with a huge game, going for 32 and 10 rebounds along with 5 assists and 2 steals. Also 10-15 from the field.
Pinson also had a good game with 27.

It's a fair point that their percentages would go down against NBA caliber defenses. I mean Theo Pinson and Brodric Thomas are shooting 50/40/90 (on tiny sample sizes admittedly) and that's obviously not what they are at the NBA level. I just find it funny that the NBA team that cornered the market on small guards with iffy jump shots has put together what has been to date the best outside shooting G-League team.

Concerning Hauser as much as I enjoy watching him shoot I'm not sure it's fair to blame Udoka for not integrating him yet. He is certainly not alone in thinking that Hauser isn't ready yet. It's pretty obvious that most NBA front offices don't think he can guard at the NBA level otherwise a guy that shoots like he does would have been drafted. Maybe he gets to a level defensively where he is playable at the NBA level one day, maybe he doesn't. Regardless he'll need more than a couple months at the pro level before he's ready and throwing him to the wolves now is making him a disservice. Even if it's frustrating watching guys brick open shots when we have a guy like Hauser in the G-League, it's better in the long run to be patient with him. Let him build up his confidence by knocking down a ton of shots at the G-League level, get acclimated to the longer 3 point line, understand where his shoots are going to come from at the next level and learn the Celtics defensive schemes. Let's put him on a Duncan Robinson track which I think is the best case scenario for Hauser's development. Even Robinson couldn't make anything and couldn't guard anybody his first year in the NBA despite getting a ton of reps in the G-League.
Turning college sharpshooters into NBA players takes time and I feel like all the NBA coaches bring these players along slowly. Spoelstra barely played Robinson his first year, Popovich barely played Forbes his first season. Same thing with Grayson Allen and Quin Snyder. Frankly they were even worse than their minute totals would suggest. And that's guys that actually turned into functional NBA players playing for some of the best NBA coaches out there which we don't know if it's going to be the case for Hauser and Udoka.

Maine on a roll. Hauser had a tough night shooting the three, but Brodric Thomas, and Theo Pinson put up some good numbers.
