He’s such a great fit next to the Jays. Becomes the best player on the roster day 1 on high pick and rolls and trading the defense. Also a knockdown shooter off catch and shoot and will get so many open looks. Great driving ability.
The fact not one rotation player was in the deal is insane
He can go left! Ws are screwed in the rematch.

When he's healthy he can be the 3rd guy even 2nd guy. He held it down in Milwaukee when Giannis or Middleton sat. Brad you are beautiful.

Re: Welcome to Boston, MALCOLM BROGDON
I dunno what Brad has on Buchanan but I'm glad he called that in. Holy crap, Brogdon one of the best 2-way floor generals on the market and a near 20ppg scorer for a bunch of spare parts and a late 1st? That's the best the Pacers could do? Wow. I didn't have this anywhere on my radar because I love Brogdon but I thought there was no way we could get him without sacrificing a core piece. I mean, not even PP? This is Ainge-level fleecage.
Love Theis's grit but the fact is he was basically unplayable against the top playoff teams like MIL, PHI, and GSW. If there are no more big shakeups I figure we will play more of Tatum@4 and JB@3 with a 3-headed monster at the 1/2 spots and PP as the 4th guard. Rob/Al/Grant play the 5 and backup 4 spots. Really like the roster construction now, strong and versatile from top to bottom with 7 deep starter-caliber guys plus Grant who is a quality backup and scrappy ankle-biter PP. That is what you need for a title run.
And if we really absolutely need to trade JB+Smart for KD, well, it wouldn't hurt nearly as much now... just sayin'.

Brogdon was the guy I wanted the year that the Pacers signed him. The only complain about him is that he seems to get hurt a lot with various nagging injuries. Here's wishing Malcom good health and congrats to the C's for a great trade. This may work out to be a great trade both ways.

I had thought the Pacers might hang on to him until the dead line and hope for good health, the only reason this guy didn't return a huge package of picks is the years of multiple injuries. Again good luck to the Celtics and The President.

I don't know how anyone can say we won this trade when we gave up five players and only got one back

I echo everything you say.
And yeah I also thought of the chaos option of trading JB + White for KD after this (don't think we'd need to give more than that really).
Smart
Brogdon
Durant
Tatum
Rob
is tough. That's a classical big 3, major injury concerns for Brog and Rob aside.

Re: Welcome to Boston, MALCOLM BROGDON
Well the price was obviously right. Bargain deal.
Malcolm gives us what White was supposed to. Starting level player who can defend, distribute and score. White couldn’t score consistently enough which hurt his ability to distribute. There’s still a place on this team for Derrick and ideally both him and Malcolm play well but he better show better next season than he did this previous one.
Pritchard is safer. You need shooting from the guard spots and he’s our only guard who shoots over 40%.
I agree with what some others have said in this thread. Still need a backup center and some nastiness added but this was a major victory. My biggest worry was we were essentially gonna run it back without a major injection of talent. That was avoided.
As much as I want to keep the ball in Tatum’s hands and think that having our oversized perimeter is crucial… we needed another ball handler. Brogdon is a nice happy medium addition as he doesn’t sacrifice size or defense but can still give us ball handling and he’s not a brick layer from 3 like White.
Love the aggressiveness of the front office without sacrificing all our picks.

Three guys that are likely going to be waived and out of the league still getting their full salary for the year.
