While we didn't play a perfect game by any means, we essentially won this game and then handed it away late. It wasn't nearly as bad as game 5 vs ATL, but once again when push came to shove, our guys looked scared and unprepared.

And Justin Jackson, man, didn't even see him on the bench cheering his teammates on, tf is up with that? Guy's a cancer.

We can recoup and still win it all, but I feel like we need Al & JT and maybe DWhite to come together and take some responsibility as player coaches, cause our coaching staff doesn't seem to be getting it done on their own. Situational awareness/prep seems lacking.

Maybe for you it is.

It’s a bad loss.

It’s game 1.

We’ll win game 2

Yes because they will rest Embiid. Then Embiid returns and closes it out. Atlanta was also a bad series. This team has lost it at the wrong time. Also the coaching in critical moments is subpar.

I thought from around the first timeout of the match until the last of the first half we played decent defense and they were just hot. During that period we were around plus 17. Outside of that period it was not good enough.

Our execution down the stretch was once again bad and Joe is showing his experience.

White and Rob needs to lift for the remainder of the series.

Brogdon had 1 turnover the entire game. Marcus had 6 including the most critical one at the end when we HAD to score. White and Brogdon need to finish games on the offensive end. Sub one of them for Smart on the other side. White and Brogdon have a much higher success rate at finishing and converting any offensive play over Smart.

Like I said in the GT, we've had the easiest draw thus far in the Playoffs and have been thoroughly unimpressive. Going 6 with a mediocre Hawks team, including blowing a game at home without their second best player. Playing a team literally missing the MVP of the league, and losing at home in embarrassing fashion. There is no Playoff "switch". This is who these guys are.

Well they're stuck with him for the next two or three seasons. This team isn't good enough to win the championship with this defense either.

Like I always keep saying having Brown as a second option isn't going to win Boston a title. He plays too selfishly, he's a turnover machine and has a low basketball IQ

Tatum and Brown playing hot potato on the worst play ever seen in professional sports with the game on the line is really upsetting.

They don't have that drive.

You don't win every time but these guys don't look like they're progressing in crunch time.

This goes all the way back to Cavs game seven Tatum rookie year.

Brogdon was FAR better than Smart for a lot of the game, but Smart was much better than Brogdon down the stretch.

That last play where Smart passed to JT is on JT IMO.

Anyways I don't get the Al hate tonight, he came up with a number of big defensive plays plays in the fourth, he rebounded, played his part on O. He wasn't a problem.

Teams lick their chops when they see Al is on D late in games. Joe hasn't noticed it yet.

Yeah unfortunately that is true this team doesn't have another gear. Just the same **** we've been seeing all year where they can't score and continue to lose games when the opposing team has key players out etc

He got cooked, but I agree not all of, if much of that was his fault. Just set up for failure with this stupid **** we’re pulling.

16 Celtic TO's Against 6 Phili TO's. But 9 Celtic Fouls Against 20 Phili Fouls sort of evens out, though the 1rst 4 Fouls of each quarter are non-shooting unless in the act of shooting. Sloppy ball control at the end killed the Celtics. And no one could hit a shot unless they were at the charity stripe.

An alternative perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+40.5 Jayson Tatum (44 minutes) DON'T ANYONE DARE SAY A NEGATIVE WORD ABOUT TATUM. Jayson Tatum is NOT the Reason THEY LOST.

+25.5 Jaylen Brown (42 minutes) Brown's play was so outstanding his 4 TO's get a pass

+16 Malcolm Brogdan (34 minutes)
+14 Al Horford (30 minutes)
+12.5 Rob Williams III (20 minutes)

+9 Marcus Smart (35 minutes) 6 Turnovers killed the Celtics. Phili as a Team made 6 TOs
+1.5 Derrick White (27 minutes)
0 Grant Williams (4 minutes)
-0.5 Sam Hauser (5 minutes)

Team Total = 118.5

Tatum being invisible and just 1/4 in the 4th definitely contributed to our loss.

The reason they lost lies in the last 4 guys in the list of 9 above. That's where the loss rests. They lost it before the last few minutes, but then during the last few minutes they couldn't hold onto the ball and they couldn't make enough shots (that a Championship worthy team should be able to execute).

You don't win in the NBA PLAYOFFS if only 5 guys play well. And only 5 Celtics played well tonight.

You Usually Need at least 6 guys to play well.

I don’t understand why we play drop on Harden all game.

I will never understand Smart switching on that last play. Or force feeding Tatum on our final attempt.

In years past I think I would be more optimistic about them climbing out of a 0-1 hole but this is exactly who this team has been all season.

Just so frustrating. So, so many mistakes from everybody. Also so sick of these guys just not even showing up until they’re pretty much forced to.

What don't you understand about Smart struggling in a close 4th quarter game, when he's done this repeatedly over the years?

Rob can't play defense nor jump. This isn't the Rob we are used to.

But yes, the team is mentally weak and soft. Mazzulla has not coached well in the playoffs. Rookie coach. That might be a little of an excuse but the Celtics haven't been about winning this the 80's, outside of the 2008 team.
