Now that the Celtics have a 6th Man of the Year player, some fans want to trade him.

Come on, guys!

Yeah. But, He's Injury-Prone.

The people that want to dump him for nothing are the same people that are pissed Smart is gone. Smart was the most beloved Celtic in a long long time. Not sure exactly why.

We Lost Smart and Grant W, and kept Brogdon.
We lost our Grit Guys, and got stuck with the Injury-Magnet, that we wanted to get rid of, in the first place.

After that, it gets scary. You have an aging Al who can be effective playing 20 minutes a night. PP has to step up. Hauser is a good fit. Brissett is solid. Walsh should be solid in the second half of the season.

We need another PF/C who is a vet and brings defense, toughness and durability. A wing you can score and defend would be nice too.

In terms of impact Brogdon is our 7th guy

At this point I'd be moderately shocked if Brogdon were still here next season.

I think they're trading Brogdon if they can.

KP, Brissett, and White/Hauser/PP can replace the scoring of Brogdon/Grant/Smart EASY.

We don't need more scoring, we need better and more versatile scoring. We should have it now.

You can go cost-effective at the point with a defense and low TO guy. 3&D with low TO guy even better.

That lets you also take on someone who can eat minutes at the 4/5 and defend. Shooting or shooting upside optional.

Trading Brogs for a SG doesn't make sense.

It makes White and PP the only PGs on the team and the new SG you're getting will be behind Jaylen Brown, who's going to play over 30 minutes a game.

So the new SG you're getting will most likely get stuck on the bench a lot!

The last time S&T'd a 1st round pick who wore #12 and contributed in the postseason, we got an all-star scoring PG back. Just saying.

Team has a great starting 5 and top 2 bench players (Brogdon, Horford). Pritchard/Hauser/Brissett are a pretty good 8th-10th man group for the regular season. Issue will be in the playoffs when you really want to shorten it to 8 guys. None of them are ideal candidates to survive that cutdown.

Hauser is absolutely capable of being a playoff rotation guy.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

If anything this Grant deal makes it easier to keep Brogdon.
You can do it and stay under 2nd apron. And you have even more 2nds and a TPE to use. Especially if you send out Pritchard you can use the full $6.2M and get that 8th guy. Or renounce that and sign a TPMLE guy.

Brogdon
Rob Williams
Porzingas
Horford

Thats 4 of your top 7 guys right there.

All MAJOR risks to miss time.

And right now the backups for injury of those guys are

Pritchard
Banton
Kornet
Brisset

That isbreally bad.

Capable of becoming that, I agree. But he still needs to develop further for that. Maybe he will with some more experience. I don't rule it out. But on paper right now, that's a question mark.

Is Isaiah Mobley any good? Maybe we sign him and hope Evan asks out for us in 4 years.

A league source said that for now the Celtics are still intending to bring back point guard Malcolm Brogdon, and that forward Jaylen Brown’s $295 million super-max extension should be finalized in the coming days.

I like Hauser, but I recall his 3 point shot completely abandoning him down the stretch of the season when people started locking in. Am I misremembering?

He struggled in Dec and Jan but was on fire the rest of the year.
