Tatum is fine. I thought he was hesitant about what he wanted to do when he got the ball in game one. I think when Tatum is at his best there's no hesitation in his game, but he's trying to make sure everyone is involved.

C's don't have many actions to get Tatum the ball in the half-court beyond a post-up or just having him start with the ball behind the arc. Could use a lot more imagination there.

Edit: Yes, including that flare screen action that he and Smart used to run (and PP and RA used to run well too).

He’s a role player.

No need to complain about him.

Conclusion: none. It's only five games.

Apparently some people want Tatum to take 25 shots, hit half of them, score 35 points and lose. To each his own.

Celtics have a net rating of 17.16 in the playoffs and are 5-1. Only stats that matter.

Stop. Not a single Celtics fan wants this.

I wholeheartedly agree. Brad and Ime never really emphasized Tatum off ball movement so Tatum never really developed that type of chemistry with the guards. Tatum would be so much more impactful if he had a DJ who got get him a couple of baskets a game just off cuts and eye contact, a la Bird and DJ…

Tatum is the one providing all the gravity plus he's one of our best screeners and passers so it's hard to have Tatum get the ball on the move. There's no Second Tatum to set him up. Porzingis being out makes this even worse.
It's kinda like how Bird and the 80s Celtics' offense would've been far more effective if they didn't go to DJ pounding the ball 80% of the time and had Bird initiate the offense instead.

Well, Rob got Tatum looks off movement every game. Al could deliver some passes on the move also. Of course JT will initiate the offense frequently but a little creative variety wouldn’t hurt.

Also, having JD Davison on a 2 way in a season where he led the G in assists and then not playing him even 1 minute this entire season with JT to see how it looked seems like a missed opportunity.

ironically last year with Mazulla, was tatums most efficient and most prolific off ball season of his career. nearly 56% (the highest since his second year) of his made fg's were assisted last year vs 40% this year (the lowest of his career). All of his efficiency numbers last season were carried by team created opportunities. Conversely by the numbers, he has had the best year of his career on ball this season, posting career highs in post ups, as a pnr ballhandler and as an isolation scorer.

It's why, despite some of the overal numbers, to me hes had the best year of his career or at least displayed a meaningful jump in ability.

Everyone on this board should make a pledge to debate others' actual arguments instead of the straw men that are erected around here so frequently.

Tatum is not providing all the gravity. That's one reason why the offense has been so good. We have multiple guys with gravitational pull. We also have multiple other people who screen and pass at a good-to-very good level. White in particular.

Hey, C's fans, do you really expect Porzingis to be any helpful during this postseason run, given the fact that he's so injury prone? It looks like his body is not ready for the grind of the NBA playoffs. Having said that, you have nothing to worry about because the Celtics will win the chip anyway, with or without the Unicorn.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Didn't you previously say that you hated Tatum?

Yes, I did! I have also previously stated that I hate the Celtics, but since my countryman Porzingis plays for you guys, I've come around.
