Those wondering why the starters are getting lots of minutes?

JT wants MVP.

JB wants to be back in the ALL-NBA Team.

White wants to be an All-Star.

The goal of winning a chip is done, so it's looking like the players want their individual awards.

Did KP last season play with braces on his ankles? Because second time this season he slips and twists his ankle randomly.

Which just tells you defense is the problem. ;)

12-1 when limiting opponents to 53% eFG%. 10-7 otherwise.
13-1 when defensive rating is 112.0 or better. 9-7 otherwise.

Our own shooting can go up and down. Defense should be consistent. C's can control that end.

Counterpoint... it's also the shooting lol.

4-7 when shooting below 53% eFG% as a team. 18-1 otherwise.

At this point last season, Cs have only had 6 games (1-5) shooting below 53%. We were 24-6 after 30 games. 22-8 this season. We were keeping pace record-wise with last year's team until that ORL loss. Schedule only gets tougher in January. Let's see what this team is made of.

Celtics were -26 in the 15 minutes Horford sat. He wasn't the reason we lost.
Sixers were +22 in the 17 minutes Embiid sat. He wasn't the reason they won.

Glad to know Cs still have Horford to counter Embiid. We had no answer for Maxey.

It's a case of still getting into game shape.

Before the season started, I had the Sixers as the #1 threat to the Cs and Maxey was going to be a problem.

One poster said since when did Maxey become a problem for us.

We got our answer in this game.

DWhite is also having trouble staying in front of his man.

As much as we love White, he's not as good as Jrue when it comes man to man defense.

Numerous times this season I saw opposing guards get past White with ease.

Cs, as a group, need to be better on defense.

Right now they're sleepwalking.

The sense of urgency is not there.

Kornet minutes to start the 4th killed the Cs after JB and co. led the comeback in the 3rd. -11 in just 4 minutes. Just like with the Magic game, start of the 4th is where we lost the game.

Lonnie Walker would look good on this team right now.

100%

It's just about effort and willingness to play hard.

Until the Cs take the regular season seriously, there will be more losses like this.

No Walsh = No win. When is Joe going to get it.

Really though, the last several games I don’t see the Cs matching the opposition’s intensity. You can beat the Wizards when that happens, but not many other teams.
I am a bit concerned.

The next 10 games will tell us a lot about this team.

Caleb Martin is a problem for the Celtics and has been since he went to the Heat. Celtics still owns this team. Congrats to them though they won a game on Christmas.

I don't think that's the reason why the starters are getting lots of minutes. IMO, it's the tinkering of the rotations. Joe switched up how he handles subbing out JT and JB this season which I'm sure also contributes to an adjustment by both players. JT mentioned that earlier.

If there's one thing I've never noticed from those guys are me-me attitudes.

Getting back to the rotation tinkering. When it works it works, but if there is struggling going on then the obvious remedy is to lean on the starters to right the ship. I've said this before the season began, this team has proven they can win at home, on the road and they can win it all. I'm not saying they are doing this, but focusing on the #1 seed IMO is only going to hurt the team at the end of the season. Last season, they weren't even trying and they lapped the entire league. The 3 ball manifesto worked to a tee, injuries were minimal and the stars won the chip. This year, introducing new line-ups was going to create growing pains. Nobody likes to lose, but IMO getting a top 4 seed in the playoffs is all you really need.

Anybody that thinks PP can replace Jrue next year is

PP can start for a bad team, but IMO cannot start for a contending team because he will get exposed in the playoffs. I'm a PP fan and I'm glad he's in green, but he's a bench player who, when not scoring will get roasted by fast athletic guards like ummm Maxey. Not his fault, because Joe had nobody else to go to yesterday. JB and White could have guarded Maxey, but that would leave PP on who?? Total mismatch all around for him.

Losing KP in the 2nd minute caused a ripple effect down the line-up. Gameplan shot.

As much as the loss sucks, watching KP get hurt for the 2nd time in a couple of weeks sucks even more IMO.

Compared to last season, both Jays are playing more minutes and attempting more shots this season.

It's also basically the same team from last season.

So playing more players should be what Joe should be doing after winning a chip.

After what happened in the Olympics, JB snubbed and JT getting benched, plus JT wanting an MVP and JB wanting to be back on an ALL-NBA Team, it's obvious there are personal goals in play here.

KP missed the first 17 games, fga's were bound to increase to make up for his scoring. I think White's fga increase was because he was on fire to start the season. He's back to earth now.

Totally agree with the bold and that's how the season seemed to start, but like I said, when there are struggles they will lean on the stars. IMO, stick with the plan, bring the guys along throughout the season with consistent minutes so when they're are tough games you're not bringing in guys who haven't played in days.

The defense needs a Jolt of energy. Put in Queta for low energy Kornet and play Walsh a good amount. Fk it if he hits his one shot or not. Tell him to Go full "A Nesmith mode".

*side note, any notice how bad Indiana is playing this year with the energy of Nesmith missing with injury??

Boston please note, Having a constant energizer is always a good thing.

Not recently. Won 6 of 7 heading into Boston (they have a game tonight vs. OKC) incl. 3 straight West road games. No gimmes for Cs.
