So my Son's travel team' coach had yesterday's practice moved to tonight because he is a LAL fan and wanted to watch. And now I am screwed :-?

The last time I missed a playoff game was 1987. It was when Magic threw in his only clutch shot ever, with his hook shot to beat Boston in the championship game series.

Well 2 hours of tape delay. I would/should consider not going but my son actually likes the practices. :(

They played at 10pm EST, why would he not be done with practice by then and not have to screw you over? lol

Tough call.

Please don't call other posters names. I.e. "Turdbiscuit"

Turdbiscuit is kinda funny, though. If I was called like that, I'd laugh my tits out.

I thought including "Dr." in front of it made it more respectful considering the context of the conversation and who I was talking to.

Nothing burger. He's playing.

I'll accept your apologies tomorrow night.

I wouldn't be surprised if he played, he's tough. Still hit the floor awkwardly and it's perfectly believeable that he hurt his wrist despite your obvious medical expertise there, Dr. Oz.

Despite your best attempts at sarcasm, I dismiss your take outright.

He's not hurt. Team is protecting him from his soft antics the other day. Coach saw right through it. He's done with it.

Tatum will play. He's not hurt. There is no bruise. Everything will be fine.

I have eyes. He landed like anyone else would land. Awkward is not the word I would use to describe it.

I can understand dismissing my take outright, I do that with all of yours. Fair is fair.

Kinda irrelevant factoid without proper context... The Celtics have lost their last 3 games vs. the Magic without Jayson Tatum.

PS We were indeed headed for a repeat in 2009 until that awful night in Utah. Truth & KG & Ray were balling & we had a dominant RS.

I remember some of your medical takes during the Covid scam, so I disagree with your medical instincts being outstanding. As for Tatum, he’s clearly not “soft” that is ridiculous. He complains to the refs too much but he’s very durable and never wants to sit. I watched the replay a few times and while it doesn’t look like he lands too awkwardly, with wrists you never know. Can be very delicate. I’ll be very interested in how his shot looks tonight, assuming he plays.

So Tatum's left wrist has traditionally bothered him come the playoffs, I am hoping that a bruised right wrist will somehow create a better sense of balance and lift his game.

But we had a comfortable lead in the fourth, he should have been taken out & taped up. I'm not asking Joe to change, we should have someone else in charge of making those decisions.

Tatum isn't nearly as soft as you allege. He will play tonight.

If JT has a bone bruise, it's NOT "soft" to sit a game in a rd 1 series against a 7 seed.
some of these takes are nuts

I hope he sits, I think he probably will since he's listed as doubtful and I think we'll still win and it will be better for overall viability of this playoff run if Sam + Torrey + Rico get 30 minutes tonight.

If his legs work. He's playing.

Otherwise yes, I would say it's soft to miss playoff games over a bruise in your wrist.

The good news is, he played a entire playoff with his wrist all messed up, played the Olympics like that and missed 0 time.

He's not going to miss time. I refuse to believe it.

We'll know if he's playing in a few hrs, so that will resolve itself. we'll just see.
As to the wrist, a lot of people feel like the wrist was a major factor why we lost the Finals in 2022. And so, I'd rather he take a game off early if it means he's healthier later in playoffs.

Perhaps. But he had a lingering wrist problem last year and we won it all. Even though his shooting was trash.

I just don't buy it. I believe the team is protecting him by saying he's doubtful.

I disagree with the fall entirely. I thought it was a clean foul and a god old fashioned playoff play. That's just my opinion.

I don't believe for a second Tatum is soft. The guy plays. He always plays. He'll be out there.

When it first happened I said it wasn’t a flagrant. But after they showed another angle and you saw Pope actually grab his forearm, which IMO changed JT’s momentum I was like “ok that’s a hard foul”.

JT knows his arm was grabbed, the fall may have stung a little, but that’s exactly what he’s gonna feed on and play tonight. I’d love to see some JT bully ball and get to the stripe at least 8 times, preferably 10 times.

After the game JT said his wrist was fine. He always downplays injuries and wants to play. He's on record saying that, and he's backed it up by playing more games than any other player since he entered the league. I mean the dude played the 22 playoffs with a fractured wrist and separated shoulder, and still gets bashed for his performance in the Finals, and he's never even publicly complained about the injuries or used it as an excuse. (That became my job haha.)

I've seen posts about toughness and comparisons to past eras/players and etc. Bird and McHale played through injures in their careers. And guess what? It shortened both their primes and their careers. Bird should have had 5 more years in him, and McHale was never the same after playing on a broken foot.

Team medical staffs have improved a lot in the last 30-40 years. If JT is out tonight it will be their call, and it will be the best call for Tatum and the franchise. I always want him to play, but it probably doesn't make sense to not win a championship this year because we wanted Tatum to play vs Orlando in Round 1 Game 2 and he jacked his wrist all up.

I really don't even know what we're arguing about here, or why. When the injury report comes out we'll all see it for ourselves.

What part of "I wouldn't be surprised if he played, he is tough" was difficult reading? It's in the part you quoted.

agreed JT is far from soft, anyone feeding into that crap is a troll..... JT is a lot like the old Spurs dynasty teams that were "boring". Do I wish he'd react and show some more passion like PP/KG did, absolutely?! His personality turns off the haters and everyone always tries to break a good man on top. Only way to shut them up is a banner 19 runnnnn! What they going to say now?!

Return to Boston Celtics
