I see a Malik Monk career path. He probably fails in Indiana but at least gets more burn and then some luxury cap team gives him minimum deal for bench spot and he takes off. The talent is there….he just doesn’t know how to play basketball at the elite level needed for NBA yet.

I see a young Matt Barnes in Nesmith. Barnes was known for his intangibles in the sense that he played hard and was an unselfish team oriented guy. Barnes was similarly known for his lack of intangibles in that he was a poor ballhandler with a questionable bball IQ. Nesmith is in that same unique mold.

He was pigeonholed as a shooter after shooting lights out against non-conference competition in college. He shouldn't have been.

I’ve been saying this for a long time Naismith is more of a rip Hamilton type rather than a3 and D shooter, he needs motion and actions and 2 pointers.

I do think it's odd that the Pacers wanted him. They drafted Duarte who has similar size and skill level last year and then just drafted Mathurin. At best Nesmith will be 3rd behind them both. I've heard they tried to get Grant but were turned down but I wonder if they also tried to get Pritchard instead but were turned down as well. I hope the kid finds a home and it clicks for him. Sad that it didn't happen here. He's loaded with talent.

well it's a chicken or the egg thing. we're not going to run all kinds of sets and actions for a guy who can't hit a shot.

Hamilton earned the right to have his team run plays for him. He was in an insanely good college player (best player on a team that beat a loaded duke team for the title at age 20, same age Nesmith was his last yr in college), then averaged 9 PPG as a rookie, 18 PPG in his 2nd year. Kind of apples to oranges comparison.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I wish Nesmith the best of luck. He showed some flashes here but overall had struggles. Still very young, plays hard, he's fast, decent on D, if he can get his shot back he could be a decent player in this league.

but he had to be moved. the trade for brogdon was a no brainer, too good to pass up.

I must confess, I still believe (still believe)

But whatever, goodbye to the number 14 picks that basically never happened.

I liked the pick and thought he would be a big part of this team... He needs to play in a different system like others have said, in a RIP, Ray Allen way...

Hopefully he gets the chance for some real minutes in IND... I still think he can be a nice role player but he will have to hit a shot eventually....

Willing defender that if he could just find his shot again. Wish him the best with the Pacers.
