Right? I have a pretty good idea what to do with that new found seemingly endless capital. Starts with an "L" and ends with "uxury tax bill"...

Getting WAY off topic here but I can't stand any of the foods with cauliflower as the substitue. Rice, mashed potatoes, and now linguini has entered the chat. My ex-wife swore it tasted the same and tried to trick me with cauliflower mashed potatoes one night when she was doing some fad diet thinking I wouldn't notice. I spit that **** out like a dog when you try to hide their pill in the food. Later that night I was "working on stuff in the garage" cuddled up with a large pizza watching hoops.

The C's go back to back and the 2nd apron talk starts up.

I want to keep everybody, but the way Wyc talks it's pretty obvious at least to me that he's serious about the 2nd apron. Now, he's no longer paying the bills though.

I am 100% against trading JB. For those who do, if he has any procedure done this offseason, IMO, no team will touch that contract until he at least plays next season with no major knee issues. I bet he has a meniscus issue that will be addressed.

I think Jrue is still valuable for another season, so unless a team wants him without having to attach a pick, I'd rather keep him.

KP as a 30mil expiring contract is still valuable even at 50 regular season games. If he plays the entire post season without you know what, a team may be interested.

Moving KP and Tillman get them well under the 2nd apron at 190mil. Enough room to bring Luke and AL back. Those two should bring the payroll up to 200-202mil.

Don't bring back Walsh. Instead maybe use that money for Craig.

Can AL, Luke and Neems handle the double big without KP? AL, doesn't play back to backs so another big may be needed. Cheap FA list is pretty thin and the C's didn't have any intriguing players in Maine.

AL-JT-JB-White-Jrue
Luke-Neems-Sam-Rico-PP

Does that group need KP to win 50+ games and make another push for a banner?

Two weeks old, but I just saw it. Interesting take, albeit lacking in specifics.

If my math is correct.

Jrue to Pelicans in the offseason for Olynyk and picks, multiple, including all of milwaukees future picks back.

Then we are below the 2nd apron and can trade Brown and Tillman plus lots of picks to Milwaukee for Giannis

Upgrade Pritchard to start. (Assumes Horford retires)

PG: Pritchard / ??? - Cheap Vet / Davidson
SG: White / Baylor / ??? - Draft
SF: Tatum / Hauser / Walsh
PF: Giannis / Kelly / Craig
C: Porzingis / Kornet / Queta

Draft can fill a depth guard, FA will land a cheap backup PG

Front Office Sports article out today saying the Celtics sale is facing uncertain financing, according to sources.

Pyrrhic victory for Pags, who was probably right about the offers, but who also burned his sale bridges with Wyc by not wanting him to hang on for 3 years.

As I've chicken scratched a couple of times in this thread, Chisholm likely wasn't putting anything close to the number floated around (6.1/7.1) into the sale.

I wonder if this has legs or it's just sour grapes, considering the recent reports they had overly participating financiers available.

Oh man. The last thing this team needs is a owner who doesn't actually have any real money.

Something isn't adding up.

Did wyc ignore everything and simply picked the guy who's gonna allow him to be the face of the franchise through the remainder of the Jays prime?

It's starting to feel sketchy

Microsoft is up 9.5% so far this morning. That means Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has made enough today to buy the Celtics twice over.

According to a quick scan of team value estimates and Steve Ballmer's net worth, he's only about $7 billion short of affording the entire league.

Ballmer's done well for himself. But even he ducked under the second apron! Not for money reasons though; that's petty cash to him. Those second apron basketball penalties are difficult.

IMO, it had more to do with not wanting to pay Paul George what he thought he was worth (which is max or close to it including longer years). And they turned out to be right in letting him go. Ducking the 2nd apron feels secondary, if not just a bi-product of not having someone worth paying. If they had someone like Giannis up for extension, I don't think they'd let him go and duck the apron 'cos of basketball penalties.

I was going by this article. You're right though, if it was Giannis, he would have stayed over:

Ballmer, who was just ranked as the sixth-richest person in the world, according to Fortune, said other teams will soon have to make the kind of tough decisions the Clippers had to make with George because of the restrictive CBA.

"I think people are going to be very thoughtful about how they continue [to] build their rosters to win," Ballmer said. "I think people are going to be over the second apron, but when you're over the second apron, you better feel like you got a clear shot [to win]. You stay up there two years, you better really feel like you got a clear shot. That was kind of what the players' association and the league was intending to do. Trying to level out the level of competitiveness.

"Guys like me who've been very willing to pay the luxury tax -- it's not about the luxury tax anymore. It's about the penalties in terms of how you get better. I'm not willing to sacrifice getting better. Still willing to pay the money. But it's more than money now."

via Front Office Sports:
"EXCLUSIVE: The record $6.1B Celtics sale will be finalized within the next week and the investment group led by Bill Chisholm has obtained enough money to cover the cost of the deal, sources tell FOS."

https://frontofficesports.com/celtics-bill-chisholm-deal-funding/

Lead buyer Bill Chisholm’s group now has enough money to cover the cost of the deal and is in fact “oversubscribed,” two sources tell FOS. The group will acquire more than 51% of the franchise in the first tranche of the deal, one source says. The exact size stake Chisholm will end up owning is still unclear.

In a highly unusual move, even though Chisholm will become the controlling owner upon approval of the agreement, Grousbeck will remain in his roles of CEO and governor through the 2027-28 season.

The full sale will still take place in two parts, one source says, and existing minority owners will have the ability to retain their positions until 2028.

Those minority owners will get to sell their stakes for up to 20% more than the original deal price, in accordance with a revenue-based formula set by the league, and when all is said and done that will bring the final blended value of the deal close to $7.3 billion.

Oversubscribed? Too much money? Still leaking to Shams were shedding salary this off-season though?

This guy really wants to come in here and be the face of the breakup? Does he think he's John Henry?
