Rondo...now Rubio. Non shooting PGs are dying out. You need to be able to shoot as a PG in today's game. That's why CP is able to stay relevant and will be for some time barring injuries.

So if you check the Bucks board, it seems pretty much confirmed that Thon Maker is at least 22/23. He graduated high school in 2010 (and then repeated grades 8-12).
Milbuck wrote:There's a hell of a lot more reason to believe he's as old as 23 than the "we trust his handler" bullsh*t from Hammond or Lasry's mic drop tweets. Even looking past the several pieces from the yearbook story, we literally had a poster on this board go to his school in Perth and talk to people who were there with him who explicitly said he's 22-23.
It's not official but to suggest this isn't a story or isn't worth caring about is flat out ridiculous.

I saw them connected to Dion Waters, too. I'm hoping they sign both guys. I really think they'll end up regretting it.

Here's to the Sixers signing Barnes and The Lakers signing Derozan(both to max)

Good assessment:

For those wondering, best player we’ve ever had in our sim was Kevin Garnett 2004 by a pretty fair margin. @haralabob
Voulgaris says the highest rated player in his database going back to 2004 was '04 KG.
Also says the publicly available rating systems are trash that no one could possibly make money with.

The Milwaukee Bucks organization is essentially the Chinatown of the NBA.
Sam Meyerkopf @HoopLikeDrazen
NBA people scout for years & then Bucks draft Maker at #10 and the Kings draft Papagiannis #13. 2 guys who've barely played live for scout.

Wouldn't be shocked if Wade ends up in Cleveland somehow.

Re: Around the NBA Thread 2016-17
This is quietly a crazy unsettling story for the integrity of this league IMO. I expect it to be brushed off easily because tanking makes people uncomfortable:
The league holds a vote to reform the lottery, Zach Lowe suggests that only 2 or 3 teams would vote against it and that it should easily pass---- doesn't come anywhere even close to getting passed through (Zach Lowe is shocked!). These owners don't want to vote for change... but they actually do want change (just w/o the decisions+accountability), so SIlver pulls some Jimmy Hoffa ish behind the scenes to snuff out the tanking beacon from within.
Adam Silver is essentially the T-1000 upgrade to the GoodellBot-800... He's been programmed to better understand and manipulate human emotions while better concealing his ruthlessness. This is scary.
ESPN reports that interviews with more than a dozen GMs, other executives and agents suggests that Silver's "involvement in that regime change may have been greater than he let on.
"Some sources claim Philly's ownership group had grown impatient with Hinkie's lack of a clear timetable to be competitive and had been worn down by constant criticism. Others suggest Silver pressured the 76ers into making a change.
"The league has never hidden its distaste for tanking, and sources around the NBA say Silver grew more irritated after the Sixers lost their first 18 games last fall and (Jahlil) Okafor was involved in multiple off-court incidents. Ultimately, those sources say, it is likely that a combination of all those factors led to Jerry Colangelo's hiring."
According to sources, Silver was "scared" by the "glorification of the Process." Silver attempted to reform the lottery as a deterrent for teams to tank as the 76ers did under Hinkie.

Saric formally announces he'll be joining the Sixers this year. More good news for our hopes of the top pick via Nets pick swap.

Normally I would brush this off, but I saw Silver at 10+ Sixers games the last few years. Always struck me as odd.

Re: Around the NBA Thread 2016-17
I'm thinking Mozgov to GSW could make sense. They move on from Bogut & Ezeli, use Mozgov and jones. Lose a lot on passing, but get some legit size they could have used in the finals after Bogut went down.
Wouldn't mind him here, either, at the right price. People are down on bigs, so he could come cheap, and fill the 10-15 min you need to not tire your psuedo-bigs out and get some rebounds to boot.

Followed by Philly winning the lottery of course. I like Silver but this **** always seemed off to me and I'm no conspiracy theorist.

Does somebody actually believe that Thon Maker repeated 4 grades, is 4 years older than people think, and a poster on the Bucks board knows more about this than the Bucks? They may be the Bucks, but come on...that's absolutely ludicrous. Just a bunch of idiots trolling.

It's a lot more than that. Go read the FAQ on the Bucks board.

Read it, but still don't think it's a possible. In the MLB it happens all the time because you go after so many Dominican players and it doesn't really matter their age at that moment with so many international players coming in older anyway (it does matter for future deals like with Pujols). However, NBA teams have a rediculous amount of time to decide on basically two draft picks. It would be an absolute embarassment if the Bucks didn't uncover his real age.

The 'repeated four grades' part is basically confirmed.

Other documentation accessible via archive.org demonstrates that a Thon Maker attended the school in question and was in the 11th grade in 2009 and there is additional circumstantial evidence it was him. It is a crazy story. If it is a hoax, it is an extremely elaborate one that has yet to be contradicted.

There are tons of people that come out of African countries and are way ahead of their grade. I met many people in college who are from Africa and were definitely 3 years younger than anyone. We've also had a dozen exchange students at my house and they are all put directly into senior year even though they were only 15. It doesn't at all mean he is 22 or 23. It just means moving continents can screw up your grade. Clearly Europe had the same passport when he went to high school there so they would have thought he was 10 years old in high school and they were cool with that.
Edit: I apologize. I read Prague not Perth, but the same theory applies. His high school in Perth would have had the same passport. Clearly they were cool with him being in high school at 10/11 years old.
