12 points (6/6 FG), 9 rebounds (6 offensive) & 1 assist. #Celtics

Imagine if the Darussafaka guards actually passed the ball to Ante Zizic?

Amazing how little they are able/willing to find him. #Celtics

Whoa. Wait-a-Minute.
6 Offensive Rebounds???

4 more months, and we have this Kid for Summer League.

Ante averages 3,7 offensive rebounds per game in euroleague, he doesn't have enough games to enter the list (he played 10 games and grabbed 37 OF RB) but he would be first by far (right now first on the list averges 2,79 OF RB per game). He would also be third in rebounds per game with 7,6.

That offensive rebounding thing made many people on here wanting Sully back. Wow we're gonna love someone able to do that.

Olynyk, will end up behind Žižić, either way.

I don't see Žižić & Olynyk playing together on the 2nd Unit. But, who knows.
In any event, if KO ends up as the 3rd String Center, then that makes our team all the Deeper.

$10 million+ for a third string center is a lot! Probably better to allocate that money to a starting C if you don't think its Olynyk.

Zeller's making $8M, this year. Amir's making $12M.
I believe that Olynyk can stick on the team. IDK at what financial cost.

But, you don't just abandon an Extended Core player, solely for Financial reasons.
Especially, when you're in obvious contention. And have so many other things going.

Who would you pick, to fill out the 17-man Roster?

Amir is a starter. Zeller's $8 million also is to pay him to be an unguaranteed contract for next year that can be traded at the draft. I guess if you see Olynyk an extended core player, I don't know why he is 3rd string. Someone outside the 10 man rotation is getting spot minutes, not the 20 mins a game he is currently. Personally, I wish he would get consistent enough to be a starter but if I don't think he can be starter, I would let him leave to sign (or trade for) a center I do think can start.

If Olynk returns it will north of 10 million. He is a good shooting big with very good offense and improved D. He is unreliable, that's his biggest issue.

A roster that Ainge could easily put together would be something like:

Bigs (4)
-- Horford
-- Olynyk
-- Zizic
-- A decent journeyman (whether Amir/JJ or somebody younger)
-- (SFs playing smallball PF)

Perimeter (8)
-- Crowder
-- Bradley
-- Thomas
-- Smart
-- Brown
-- Nader
-- Brooklyn 17
-- Rozier

Mickey/Zabu/Jackson/2017 2nd-rounders could be the first guys considered for other slots.

Much of that is still possible if there's a max or otherwise big FA signing. The most obvious things that would need to be given up are my placeholder for a "decent journeyman" big, plus one of Olynyk/Bradley. If it's Bradley, he could presumably be traded for future picks or whatever, probably not at full value. If it's Olynyk, he's probably just allowed to walk. Either way, the FA needs to be good enough for that to be a good tradeoff.

Similarly if, instead of a FA, it's a trade for a star still under contract.

For a true elite player, trading Thomas instead might make sense, but there are VERY few guys in the league worth that kind of compensation. (Anthony Davis is the one scenario that seems remotely plausible.)

Yabu will rest and recover from ankle injury instead of heading to Maine after Shanghai Sharks got eliminated from the playoffs, per his agent.

I prob like Olynyk more than most, but I can't justify using 10 million of the salary cap on a player like him, especially since he looks like he regressed this year. And you're right that he's going to cost at least 10 million and you're probably underselling it. 25 year old center who can hit threes? No reason Nets don't offer him 15 million.

a couple of very slick passes in the highlights. that was unexpected.

Unless he has injuries next year, I think he is likely to be a rotation player. Good chance he is a starter by 2019.

For those who have been playing closer attention to how Zizic has been playing, how would you rate his ability to survive in an NBA defense as a rookie. NBA defense is obviously a very complicated set of requirements (the rules and regulations of the NBA to start with, pick and roll coverage, team concepts, rotations, opposing team or specific player scouting etc). A lot of players struggle, some get it early. It would obviously be awesome if he is able to pick this stuff up quickly as he could really help the team in other areas.

100% the top question I have on Zizic. A little concerned about his ability to defend the pick-and-roll based on his physical attributes but you don't see many clips of that, so I don't know.

lol look how open he gets on the pick and roll at 12 seconds. And the point guard doesn't even see him. Real high level stuff going on over there.

No one plays pick and roll well if the pick and roll is executed well.

This is way too technical. He can move his feet. He will learn how to play pick n roll at a league adequate level quick!y.

He'll be able to play 10-15 minutes but many are gonna get disappointed in Brad not playing him 30 since we need rebounding etc :-)

Indeed.

Expect major fan orgasms over Zizic and Yabusele next year, even if they are just Scalabrine-type-bench-guys the first season. The Chinese fans were going nuts over Yabs play. He has a mountain of charisma.

And if they become rotation guys who help us win games, and if we draft KG-intensity-clone Josh Jackson, some fans may need to be hospitalized to deal with excitement overload. The 2020s could well be a sweet and historic decade for Cs fans. Buckle up.
