Rob and Dano were very different, but complimentary, players. Losing both, even for part of the season, is going to have a big impact on both offense and defense, and the amount of time players like Al and Jayson will need to log on the court.

We found last season that "playing catchup" in January to June was an exciting ride for the fans, but it meant that the a few key players like Tatum, Smart, and Timelord were not at peak by what ended up being quite a playoff grind after the first round.

I don't know what the answer is, but I think bringing in retreads and vets on their last wheel will not be the answer.

It's a tough one. Brad needs to take his time and shoot for the stars. One more prime addition in the front court. But it's going to cost... and now that Fournier TPE is long gone.

Wiretap reporting that C's had expressed interest in LMA.

Dude is older than Horford and already retired once due to health concerns, BUT, out of the older vets out there I think he would fit in with this team well, can spot those minutes while Rob recovers from surgery (not replacing what Rob does of course) and help mentor our young bigs.

Aldridge isn't going to need a lot of minutes or touches, he would -- should -- be focused on one thing: getting that ring in a Celtics jersey, the pinnacle of basketball excellence. Then he and Horford can ride into the sunset together.

Celtics ruined Williams knee trying to win a championship... I **** knew this was going to happen. He was NOT ready to play last year. Super sketchy.

Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing. Williams never really looked right the entire playoffs.

Do you have a medical license? Have you examined his knee? If not, you're talking out of you a%%.

Rob has been one of the league's most injury prone players his whole career - even before the NBA he had injury concerns. It's why he fell to the 27th pick even though Jay Bilas said he was a top 5 player in the draft.

The Celtics have been extremely conservative with bringing guys back from injury over the past several years. People on here are constantly complaining about Player X sitting out this game or Player Y still not back from that injury. Yet now people are complaining because Rob did play., I guess Celtics fans will just complain, no matter what happens lol.

It's not like we brought Rob back in the playoffs and ran him into the ground. His MPG went from 30 in reg season to just 23 in playoffs. And he wasn't even playing in ever playoff game - he sat out A LOT of games in the playoffs.

Bottom line, the guy has been injury prone ever since he was in college. He's one of the most injury prone players in the league. Us bringing him back in the playoffs had nothing to do with this latest injury he just suffered. Guys like him just get injured a lot, regardless.

Lastly, if we "ruined his knee trying to win a championship" then why does this article from august 21 say that his knee was fine?

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

lmao I'm not going to read all of that, they put him out there and now he needs surgery again.. I don't need a medical degree to see that. He was suffering the entire time and kept saying how nervous he was... doctors **** up him. They've also **** numerous people up because I've lived here for 30+ years and yes, heard many great stories but also many horror stories... so at the end of the day, I'm not impressed by Boston dental or medical whatsoever but you can be if you want. Bunch of **** corrupt narcissists if you ask me. Lots of trash elite leading Boston and hoping the T will be the first realization of what is actually happening here.

Because he never was... Just takes less ass kissing and green tinted vision to see that. In interviews he kept saying he wasnt feeling right but they kept pushing him because his MRI's or whatever said everything was clean... yeah BS, I trust someone's own judgement and using empathy to figure **** out, not some tests. If he doesnt feel right and keeps being up and down, don't risk him and sit him.

I'll say it again, Celtics ruined him.

Hmm yes, don't know what the hell I was on about

50 games missed
53 games missed
30 games missed
21 games missed

Trend has been going down lately after his first two years of missing most of the NBA seasons.

Regardless I know teams don't do this but I still would put his body on rest if he can make it to 1-2 months away from the start of the playoffs fully healthy.

Tailor your strategy for the body he has. Let the legs rest, let his body recover how it can.

Then let him shake off the rust against some trash team in the first round with ease and unleash him when we need him fully healthy with fresh legs in rounds 2 and hopefully 3 and 4.

20 games missed in 2020-2021 season. There was only 72 games that season - not 82. There was also 72 games in 2019-2020 season so he missed 43 games that year - NOT 53 as you posted.

also, many of his games missed were due to COVID and non-COVID related illnesses. Some were due to personal reasons - either having a baby (he's had 2 during his career now) or close family/friends passing away.

Covid is a good point and makes things wonky. I'm not going to look back to see if he would have been hurt or healthy for the extra games or not.

But many were missed due to illness? Like how many? 30? It would be interesting to see. I wonder if there is somewhere that documented this already easiely.

It could explain why he goes "down" to missing 20-30 a game which is still a quarter to nearly half a season worth of games so not something to jump up for joy about.

But I wonder if there truly is many games missed from illness if he just had a horrible immune system for 2 years and he really on average misses something like 25 games a year to injury as a young 20 something.

Oh, an article says so? Must be true!

I don't get why you have to be confrontation about it... quite simply, we don't agree. Being condescending is just childish.

Since when does news that everyone can get a hold of detail the intricacies that only him and his medical team would know about? There's nothing out in the news that gives us a good look at what was happening with Williams, they're all just news reports about medical treatments/tests. I don't get how you find that to be, "setting the record straight".

What a mother **** cluster ****.

SMMFH.

FIrst we lose Gallo;

Then we lose Rob ?for how long? perhaps because the wrong surgery was chosen late last season? (as an endocrinologist & not an orthopod - I am not close to qualified to render a valid opinion);

Then our coaching phenom may not be allowed to coach this year or be fired ?because he could not keep his dick in his pants?

It never stops.

SMMFH.

dude. it's a celtics beat writer who has inside information because he is able to talk to the teams, coaches, players, medical staff and report on what's going on - because it's his job.

OK, so I just had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in my left knee. I'm an old man, but it's been less than two weeks and I can walk around and I'm ready to begin PT. Recovery from a torn meniscus is fast.

Here's the thing: They don't actually repair your meniscus. It's made of cartilage, and it doesn't heal itself or regrow. What they do is trim off the torn part.

Now, I don't know how badly his cartilage is torn. In my case, they say I have plenty left to run and hike and bike and stuff - but I should not be training for a marathon. That works for me, but Robert Williams III is running up and down the court and dunking and stuff.

The point is, they can fix Robert Williams III up pretty well, but that knee will never fully heal. For that reason, I would not wait on finding another quality center.

Again, nobody is going to share detailed information about what is going on with him... that's all personal and private. Based on your responses, I really feel like you're hung up on being "right" about an opinion on what happened to Williams because you know some sources that say the Celtics worked ever so hard to fix him..

It takes I guess just one freaking eye to see that guy was struggling the entire time... I don't care what some arrogant, and probably paid off doctor has to say about the situation. Boston doctors are sketchy (long history of abuse just Google Boston doctor crimes and problems) and I'm not shocked whatsoever. The dude was struggling right in front of everyone, kept coming up hobbled while playing RIGHT AFTER FREAKING SURGERY. Tell me how the hell that makes sense to force a young player like that to play?? So many people could see this just using their better judgement. It's easy to say, "because this guy I don't know who has as medical degree and is professional tells me so, it must be true". Well sadly, you can lump doctors, lawyers and police officers all in the same category. Bunch of corrupt liars who will do anything to cover their own ass or even worse, to make money.

To put it bluntly, those same type of doctors ruined my life and I know what they're capable of... absolute sketchy, and corrupt professionals in Boston. Lots of em, and lots of em in the medical industry too. Lots of fraud and corruption. Hopefully the T keeps failing and it will be clear how much Boston really cares about it's people.

Pfff, it definitely won't heal now after they forced him to use it the way they did... **** awful.

Couldn’t this surgery have been done earlier?

Probably not. This offseason has turned into a nightmare.

Return to Boston Celtics
