I see a lot of blessing in disguise opportunities with Life and in this case, Tatum being out.

1 is Tatum is expected to play heavy minutes this year and this 2 week break may make him a bit fresher long term (though more games on some weeks may counter that.)

2 Though the bigger blessing is for J Brown. With JB's role as the top player until JT's return, I believe he can grow even further as he will be required even more so to lead in multiple ways other than scoring. Play-making, shot taking and communications with teammates will all be amplified. His confidence may go even higher than it seemingly is already.

There was a time when JB was considered a 3rd option AT BEST. Maybe after 2 weeks, Boston will have 2 TOP options instead.

I think yall are too hard on JB in a learning year for him. He turns it over a lot and he hasn't been up to par on D but this is his first season having a lot of responsibility (any really). He deserves room to grow or Cs need to tell him NOW that he's a spot shooting role player. They seem to be way more patient than we are.

I feel like a lot of people love it when he makes a mistake because of how some of you speak up when he does it. Other guys could be playing worse than he is but you'd never know it for the amount he's called out for his crap moments and they aren't. There is a different tone when he makes the same mistake others make or have made.

He coughs the ball up way too much but he is trying to pass it more. He knows he's a black hole for how much he has the ball, he recently spoke on realizing he has to get his teammates involved more (better late than never ugh). In the last 10 games, he has 6ast vs 4to, and in the last six, he has cut his turnovers to 3 while keeping his assists at 6.

Let the dude have room to grow, let him bump his head until he gets it together. I wish I didn't have to watch the bad either, but he's 24, this could turn out so good for the Cs if they let him figure it out now, even if it means we need to trade him for better later. I'd like Beal to go with the Jays for instance, but I know some have said that's who we should send him out for. Either way, it's better to see what he has so we can see how it benefits the Cs in the future which should be the main priority.

I'm not even entertaining the things being said about Tatum, that man is getting over COVID, he LOOKS worn out! You don't go from how he's played in his career to this without something drastic holding you back! I don't care how other people are doing after having it, everyone is different! I'm not even talking about regular comments on his play in the moments or things he could clean up, I'm talking about comments like he's a "fake star" or "not a real AS" crap. I can't wait til he gets over this so all of the noise will stop!

The Jays look exhausted. Wish they weren't going to the all star game.

Shouldn't have one period. Usually, LBJ gets his way but not this time. Could have named the guys and left it at that. You can keep the fans away from the arena but this is the big moment of the year for groupies worldwide, they aren't going to stay away just because the NBA wants them to.

Wish they could rest in some games, but that would lead to Ls especially with Smart already out and Kemba inconsistent. Maybe they could alternate rest days?

Anyway, PP and Kemba can handle the ball more in the meantime. Lighten their load on offense. Go back to finishing and defense instead of having to worry about a thousand things at once. Teague gave us a lift vs. the Pacers although he still dribbles too much.

Please don't kill me for this comment -- their penchant to stop the flow of the offense, dribble-dance, or settle for midrange shots have little to do with what they're feeling physically now. Take the threes if you can't get to the rim. Or swing the ball, don't let it stick esp. if it's clear the defense is collapsing on you. I could point to several instances, even in the 4th, when this happened. Team ball over iso ball please.

Feel like it's definitely flown under the radar with everything else that we've had going wrong, but these two have definitely dropped the intensity on the defensive end. It's understandable given the schedule and the load that they're being asked to carry on the other end of the floor, but it's a big part of why we're dropping winnable games.

Both are stars at this stage, but because of their whole game not just their scoring ability. When they don't bring it on both ends their impact isn't nearly the same.

I think having Smart back, who brings that energy every single possession, will help keep them on their p's and q's, but I'd rather see these guys bring that intensity on their own. Again it's totally understandable given the season we've had and with Tatum having COVID, Brown carrying more of the load and having knee tendinitis, but think this as big of an issue as them being ball-stoppers of late offensively.

When your two best guys are going hard both ways, I think it'll elevate the rest of the squad as well. It's something they can certainly turn on later in the season like LeBron tends to do, but with this stretch of suck we've burnt through our leeway. Gotta turn it up to 10 post the all-star break and keep it there through the playoffs.

we've been going deep into the post season every season of their careers. It leaves them exhausted heading into the offseason. And with both of their work ethics being what they are, they work hard during the offseason then preseason begins followed by the season. It's clear they're completely worn down with added responsibility and injuries to our roster. I wish they'd take the all-star game off and get some rest but you can't expect a first time starter (Tatum) and first time all-star (Brown) to turn down this opportunity. Sadly we can't afford for them to rest and still be competitive so we make the playoffs. I'm genuinely worried Tatum will be fed up this offseason and demand a trade.

I think we've taken for granted (myself included) what we have in these 2. This is something special.

Expectations have been a bit much given their ages and past success. Both of these guys are special elite NBA talent.

It’s their first full year as the #1 & #2 option of this team. We were foolish (myself included) to think there weren’t going to be inconsistencies from both of them. Add to the fact that Kemba hasn’t been himself for the majority of the year, we missed Smart for a bunch of games & our bench has sucked you can’t really be surprised at our record.

They’ve been asked to play these roles at such a young age which is only going to benefit them even more going forward.

Jaylens style of play (being a deadly catch and shoot guy) makes him a really good fit as the Robin to Tatum’s Batman, but we need to see them both be more consistent down the stretch. It’s unfair to expect them to be perfect, but it is what it is lol.

Tatum is looking like a smaller Durant again, that’s scary for the rest of the league.

Glad they're slowly realizing they don't have to do everything on their own. That if they play the right way and involve their teammates, game becomes easier for them and the team. Ball movement, spacing, and pace really have improved for about a month now. Still room to improve on the offensive end but we're heading in the right direction!

(Both have had significant bumps in assist % since 12/31. Not counting potential assists and hockey assists.)
