Good news on the standings watch front. BRK is in UTA tonight, Mitchell cleared the concussion protocol so it looks like he'll play. Meanwhile Harden has been rule out with hamstring tightness. A BOS win @DET and BRK loss @UTA puts the C's just two back in the loss column from BRK.

Charlotte and Toronto Loss added to a Boston win puts Boston in 7th, 0.5 games up.

But the galaxy brain move is to hope CHA beats CLE, which gives them 22 loss and puts you only three back in the loss column for the 5th seed. The Celtics have already won the season series 2-1 against the Cavs so they have the tie breaker.

Really starting to look like that 2002 season when the Celts were just playing .500 ball then started to click when they traded for Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk at the trade deadline.

Who knows what will happen if Brad can make a trade to upgrade the roster within the next 6 days.

I think the Celtics are officially back and might not be too far from the bubble team. The difference is that the East is better than back then. Despite our solid record vs the teams ahead of us, I'm not sure if we would beat them in a series. I'm also not scared of all of them, but who would we be better suited to match up against.

Looking belatedly at this (and I no longer recall who first posted it):

-- Three different teams' supposed costliest trade is one they made with the Celtics. (Russell, Sharman, Parish)
-- Included are draft day trades and so on (e.g. Dirk to the Mavs or Russell to the Celtics).
-- Not included, I presume, are simple trades of picks that were used to choose great players.
-- I don't know what the criteria were. But Chief over Wilt for the Warriors and Dirk over Kareem for the Bucks both seem debatable.
