Seth Curry tested positive for Covid. Sixers now have to quarantine. Guess the sixers will have to reschedule some games.

Wonder if it effects us as the sixers last game was Washington

Have to assume they will just test everyone (which they do anyway) and if there are no positive cases it will be businesses as usual.

After Sixers fell to the Kyrie/KD-less Nets, everyone in the league has at least two losses now. Cs have 3. Despite our rough start, we're keeping in pace. KEMBA, GET FULLY HEALTHY PLEASE?!

We're now tied with the Clips and Lakers at 6-3. Only team with more wins are the Sixers.

This is very very VERY concerning.

Could lead to entire teams being quarantined for sustained periods of time.

I have been worried about this since the non-bubble season was announced.

Should NBA personnel be vaccinated as “essential workers” - “essential” with relation to the “viewing pleasure” they provide to fanatic nut jobs like us - distracting us from the worst of the pandemic still ahead of us? Or are there not enough of us to justify that prioritization?

I think that would be a non-starter until all the priority groups are done, there just would be no broad public support for it - nor do I think the players would support it. So I think you'll be vaccinated before Tatum. And that's the way it should be.

There's literally zero chance athletes get the vaccine before actual frontline workers.

As for COVID tests, yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing that could precipitate a mini-shutdown. Will not surprise me if several teams fail to get to 72 games, which would create some interesting dynamics for the postseason.

I'm usually the first to **** on Kyrie. But, honestly, I don't blame him for that. I didn't do my job on Wednesday, either, because I was so disturbed at what happened in DC.

I wonder if the coaches wear the tracing bracelet and if the coaches can get quarantined too?

Markelle Fultz out with a torn ACL in Orlando. I would love to see IT get a chance in Orlando.

Good assessment:

Adam Silver has said that the NBA will not "jump the line" to receive vaccines, but I think the league should. Given the frequent travel required as part of the job, along with frequent contact with the media, etc., these players become a threat to each other and to those around them, masks or no masks.

In my view it would have been different had the league elected to go back into the bubble, but the league didn't.

I'm reading a new biography of Chaucer, who was 8 or 9 years old when the black plague hit in 1349, killing nearly 1/2 the population of Europe. It was the trading ships that brought the plague to Western Europe (it started in central Asia and traveled the silk road to the Black Sea ports) and helped to spread it. And, as with the current pandemic, the wealthy left London and locked themselves in their country houses, so that the peasants were the ones who died.
