You'd have to really like Collins' fit for us to give up Nesmith, Smart, and a 1st.. but it's a good, opportunistic trade. Could you take Marcus out of it? Hawks trade Collins for Grant, Nesmith, DET gets a BOS 1st and Jalen Johnson?
Can't imagine they'd entertain it without Smart. I don't think he carries a ton of value around the league, but he's got a ton of value to ATL. He's a perfect backcourt partner for Trae given their defensive issues.
I think if you wanted to try to push the boat out and improve the deal for the C's, get DET to eat Horford instead of Gallo. It's a $9m difference in guaranteed money next year, but it'd give us a ton more room to make moves. Doubt they'd get on board for that unless they got an extra asset though.
I'd 100% move that package for Collins though. He slots in nicely next to Rob and then you've got 4 slots cemented in the starting lineup. PG is still a hole, but you're not going to fix this entire roster in one trade. Try to fold in Wright or go for DJ Augustin in HOU as stop gap measures and then hope you can get something this summer.
Rubio coming off that injury will be a FA, he would be a great fit if healthy. Dejounte Murray is my wet dream at this stage (especially if we added Collins). I'd send all our picks/swaps for him and roll out:
Murray
Brown
Tatum
Collins
Timelord
Top to bottom that's a starting 5 I think can win the East.
