NBA D-League Will Not Field Summer League Select Team

The NBA Development League will not field a select team at this year’s Las Vegas Summer League, multiple league sources tell D-League Digest.

The league cited its growth to 25 teams for the 2017-18 season as a reason why they will not have a team this year. D-League players will find increased opportunities with NBA teams at all three Summer League locations (Orlando, Las Vegas, Utah) moving forward.

The D-League Select Team served as an alternate opportunity for NBADL players to play in front of NBA scouts to potentially earn potential training camp opportunities or additional exposure with team executives in attendance, much like the D-League Showcase.

Great potential but also a great kid. I am sure he will contribute for us next year. I agree with his own views that Draymond Green is the player he is most like.

I would love a Draymond Green type here. It really seems like we drafted players who desperately want to get better and contribute. You can't ask for much more then that at this stage. I could see Yabusele becoming a 10 8 3 all around type of player.

I'm not fully aware of contracts completely. Does that mean this now counts as his first year?

NO. -- It does Not count as his 1st year.
Same for Nader.

Their Rookie years don't start, until they actually sign an NBA Contract. (Not counting a 10-Day Contract.)

Nope, this doesn't count as his rookie year. He's under contract with the Red Claws but not the Celtics. Cs still hold draft rights to him. Think of Nader and how he was stashed in the D-League. Yabs has been stashed twice.

On Celtic Talk today, Guerschon Yabusele conceded to A. Sherrod Blakely that he has 7 percent body fat, not the 6 percent that Austin Ainge reported. He also weighs 276 pounds.

He also likes the Dancing Bear nickname.

This is brilliant. We helped get yabs a payday in China. He did that, will get to play fed claws while hanging around our team and gets signed immediately. Smart move by Ainge.

I've got high hopes, but don't trust my ability to be effective by watching him in China. Hoping for the best though.
