This team as currently constructed can win a championship in my opinion. Before anyone mocks me let me preface this statement by saying we aren’t favorites. I believe several things would have to break our way but it is possible. If we are healthy going in and Brad doesn’t let the rotations get away from him this team has the talent. 4 high level offensive players 2 decent bigs and a couple of strong defenders off the bench.
A legit rotation piece would of been nice to add at the deadline but Brad seems to do better when he doesn’t have as many options.

Depends on Hayward. Enough that I haven't bothered looking at things yet. But, assuming he opts in or only slightly declines on an extension, I'd assume we're in the tax.

That was my assumption. I don’t think 6 per year is going to cut it for Mr. Wood. I think he’s looking at full MLE if not higher depending on how free agency shakes out

Yep, I think we're on the same page for Wood's $. I was talking non-Cs MLE and you were thinking I meant for the Cs available MLE specifically. I could see other teams offering up to the full MLE. Pistons going over to keep him, or maybe someone like MIA giving him a Mook 1+1 deal to keep options open for Giannis, then fallback to him if not.

Baynes had negative trade value a few months after that. All the other guys were rentals at the time. So probably not all that much.

We can win it. Bucks best team, and getting by the Clips, Lakers would be hard. But I can see it.

We are secondary contenders, much like the raps were last year. Look how that turned out.

Sneaky big deal to why they didn’t add future salary to the team. Would have effectively made the trade Hayward + two late 1sts + Theis and other cap fodder = Bertrans.

What kind of idiot does that?

Supposedly they tried to trade for Bertrans. So they were evidently willing to play for everybody at once.

We said the same thing about Al and Kyrie last year. It’s up to Gordon Hayward to sign. He might not want to stay if his wife hates Boston or he tires of playing 3rd banana to the Jays. I hope he opts in rather than having to resign him.

Sure but I don't see it playoffs are faster tougher and teams rotations get tighter.
We have 7 rookies and everyone has missed time. The fact that we are third in defense is a miracle. The 8 man rotation isnt bad but against the bigs for other teams in 7 game series we will get killed. Team as is isn't winning a championship that I know for a fact. Basically have to hope by playoffs we have thies, Kanter fully healthy. I'm all ready seeing the writing on the wall for timelord. (Edwarfs, poirer, green, ojeleye, Williams and Williams and Langford hasn't scared anyone so far). Plus due to the unnecessary log jams at guard position nobody can even get time to develop. Hell we are playing g.will at center? If everything goes right and I mean everything we get 1 playoff series win and go home to draft 4 more short guards cause you know he loves them.
Is what it is.

Sign another 3+1 at a reduced salary in the first 2 years. Or maybe a 2+1.

One advantage for us to being able to keep Gordon is his long time relationship with Stevens.

Agreed. -- We'll likely end up in 2nd Place, best case. 4th place, would be worst case.
Health = is a Key Factor. Hopefully, we can get over all these Injuries.

The Positive Side = is that most of the Team will be rested to some degree, for the Playoffs.
That's by way of "Load Management", Actual Injuries, and Basic Caution.

Ainge said it himself, we have 17 Players. Back in the day, we used to only have 12.
Having 7 Rookies is not so bad, when you factor in our Core Players.

Is what it is.

Celtics will likely make it to the ECF, again.
What happens there and then, is not Written in Stone.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, is the head of the Snake.
We can contain him.

Lakers (or Clippers) would be a tough matchup, as well.
But we can beat them, also.

Listened to Ainge's interview. I do think we wanted to make a trade. He mentioned the primary reason we weren't able to reach a deal is we didn't have the right salary/salaries to send out along with our FRPs. Our top 5 or 6 weren't going to be traded. And our lower-level salaries just weren't attractive enough. The prep should've been done during the offseason to have those expendable mid-sized salaries. Theoretically, we could've had Mo Harkless for the season who was traded for Mook.

Fun fact: I found 58 of my posts containing the word "ballast' made during the offseason.

I gotta up my game apparently, so I'll bemoan once again that we did no prep work at the deadline to make ballast for draft/summer trades. Come to think of it, Ed Davis might have worked...

Don't sell yourself short. Of the fake GMs on this site, you were a primary proponent of squeezing every bit of our cap space to create said ballasts for midseason trades.

What type of trade are you thinking for this summer/draft?

yes, if Giannis goes down Game 1 against us in the ECF and then Lebron or Kawhi are injured for their respective teams in the Finals (whoever makes it) then yeah, we could win a championship. Unlike TOR last year, we don't have that true #1 like Kawhi who can win us a series. We have Tatum who is not quite there yet and some great surrounding players but I don't think it's enough to overcome Giannis and the Bucks. And even if we did, I can't see us doing well against the Lakers because AD would eat since we are terrible down low or the Clippers because they have Kawhi, George and depth. If we had drafted Mitchell Robinson instead of Robert Williams and had him on our bench or starting at center AND made a trade for Bertans, we could realistically expect to make the Finals and make a series interesting. But we didn't. So barring catastrophic injuries we are most likely not making the Finals and definitely not winning a championship if we did.
