There's nothing you can say to 4y/$120m. Same as when Philly gave Horford that deal last year. Can't get into death spirals with bad franchises just to save face.
Get the TPE and move on. Payoff probably won't come until the trade deadline or next offseason.

Giles?
Giles is trash.
edit: he might help with Tatum tho, they are close budds and if Giles work out we will do Tatum a solid one.
Good assessment:

Any of these would be a big help. No pun intended.

Ainge could kick dogs and you'd still have people defending him. No excuse for not getting anything
First of all, none of us are privy to the negotiations that went on. There are many things that need to be given consideration, and a team of people that are paid good money to consider it all. It's not just Danny sitting in a room by himself smugly thinking that he is going to fleece the other team. Whatever offer Indiana was putting on the table was likely conveyed to the owners. They had to have been involved in the decision, don't you think? Something was off or the deal would have happened, and then Charlotte showed up. Of course, the timing of everything is unknown at this point. Perhaps the Celtics and Pacers were nearing a deal, and the deal was totally de-railed because of Charlotte's offer. What do we know? What do you know?

We did it guys!!! This was our fastest complete melt down yet.
Some of these folks are incensed that they are going to have to watch another season of playoff basketball.
And not winning a championship

But I've been told there's no chance of that happening....how is that possible?

Charlotte has to eat 9 million in dead cap a year over the next 3 years in order to do this. Just wow

This move combined with not accepting four 1st rounders so they could take Frank the Tank really makes me think Jordan hates Ainge and will do stupid deals just to screw him heh

This still isn’t over. Ainge probably working the phones to find a Batum plus 1st round pick for someone.
Good for the Celtics even better for Charlotte because they wouldn’t have dead money in future years.
I say stay tuned

Hayward had no bag to take as he doesn't get to sign in Charlotte outright.
Uhh he was an unrestricted free agent so he quite literally could take any deal offered to him...
I'm assuming you're just trolling?
Not when a team doesn't have the cap space. Until the just released news they can get enough with waiving Batum, they didn't.
Yeah that takes 5 mins to release someone to make cap space bud. He signed with Charlotte because he was a UFA...

I wrote that 3 pages ago, 3 years/30 + mils, I think it's the full MLE.

Man, I was right there with him wanting more. But, you can't really spin this as a good thing.
How the heck does CHA not want to unload Zeller rather than waiving Batum? That's just insane on top of insane of the contract (and I think Gordon's really good).

yeah the fact that people are somehow not getting that hayward had the final say in where he goes as a UFA is really mind boggling.

Please Ainge fans, defend all of this...I’m ready for the riveting excuses...
In all fairness the Jazz got zilch from the Celts when they lost Hayward too.
That wasn’t their third max guy in a row though. They weren’t cap strapped either.
Maybe Nesmith turns into Donavan Mitchell......

Our team, with a hurt Kemba, got to the ecf without Hayward. We got two all stars and a bear all star. Our core is intact. I loved Hayward, but he left. Deal with it.

I know it is still raw and all but we would have been thrilled to have sent Hayward to CHA for Walker last offseason.

A tweet from the indy beat writer that mentioned Ainge got greedy and Hayward called his bluff is probably a good start...
So whats going to be the excuse when Tatum and Brown bolt for contenders over the next few years in FA? Cant wait.
