Chris Forsberg posits that Celtics could use their TPE's to facilitate a KD trade between Phoenix and the Nets, perhaps getting back Seth Curry (yes please!), or Jae Crowder or Cam Johnson. That would be a great consolation prize if we are not going to get KD.

Because he doesn't have a market. Coming off injury, actually played for Washington last year (I didn't know that) and was mediocre, his three point shot abandoned him after the layoff (shot 28 percent).
I don't think his shot abandoned him. He only took 42 3 pointers the whole season. It's just a sample size issue. He was 12-42, if he goes 15-42 then he's right back at 36%. On that limited volume, the shooting percentage is so flaky and easily swung.
That being said, low volume is part of the package with him as a "shooter". Over his last 4 seasons he's attempted 1.6 threes per game and made 0.6. He's really not a "shooter" or a "floor spacer". Defenses aren't going to respect his shot. They leave him open and a couple of times a game he pulls the triggers. And every other game he actually makes one. It's a nice percentage to see on paper, but it really isn't that impactful or meaningful as things stand right now.
The encouraging part though is that it shows potential for growth. If he can start shooting them at a higher volume and maintain good percentage, then it becomes something that helps you.
What do you make of his defense?
I've already said I think he is one of the worst defensive bigs in the game. Though I will admit that a lot of that is based off of more statistical things I've read vs watching him a ton (I don't pretend to watch a lot of WAS games).
I don't really like the player, I just think he's got physical tools that worth working with for a vet min spot. We need another center just for depth and he seems like a great candidate to fill that spot over some retread with no upside.

Re: 100 Pages & Running: The FA/Trade Thread.
now that we got Gallo, you can cross Crowder off the list for the TPE....too much positional overlap between crowder/gallo/grant
unless grant gets traded but i doubt that happens.
i feel like brad sees grant in a similar light that he sees Smart.
now im not saying that brad sees them as being qual value in terms of how much $ to pay them, how much trade value they have. but just like in terms of the way brad talks about smart. work ethic, character, being a true celtic, being a team-first guy. playing with an edge/toughness (smart and grant are 2 of the toughest SOBs in the league), being a good, switchable defender. and also having that infectious energy when the guy is in the room, and when he's out there on the practice court, keeping the mood light, really connecting with the other guys on the team, etc.
anyways, there's a video where brad talks about smart in this way. and i feel like grant embodies a lot of that too.
For the TPE i assume we're going for a wing..someone like Oubre, J-rich, McDermott, Clarkson, Kennard, Huerter, Beasley, Hart
unless grant gets traded but i doubt that happens.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Cam Johnson seems incredibly unrealistic. Why would BRK give away a valuable piece of the return.
Curry's salary is low enough that BRK could get something for him vs dumping for nothing.
Crowder could work, but bad roster fit here now after Gallo.

I much prefer Gallo to Jae. Gallo is the type of heat check guy that can win a playoff game. Jae is just another guy that can't dribble and isn't a great shooter. The fit for Jae never really made much sense.

Cam Johnson would fit into the Schroder TPE, but sounds too good to be true. Seems he'd cost a FRP or two.

I'm all for trading whatever picks it takes to get a good player for the TPE. Don't need more rookies in the mix.

Cam Johnson would be fantastic. Another shooter with size.

Is that right, we're at $156M between 11 players?

White | Pritchard | Nesmith | Gallinari | Grant

He's got some offensive upside as a creator too.
Can't imagine we can get him.

Kind of hoping for Larry Nance Jr. with TPE now. Not sure what Pels motivation would be, maybe if they can come out as darkhorse winner in KD sweepstakes.
Baylor is Brat.

Because if the Celtics don't help facilitate the deal, the deal doesn't get done. It's called being opportunistic.

Yeah, you'd think it'd be Craig. But if Brad can pinch them, even better.
