A young, rebuilding team is not gonna trade the guy they just drafted in the top 10 in 2022.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

You are most likely right about Toppin. Pacers have a pretty decent team.

Just based on the reporting, they purposefully added a 1st/1sts so they could keep some of their players. So it would be weird if they then traded Toppin for picks.

It’s fair to say he improved a hair this year but NY traded Toppin to Indiana for 2 “least favorable of” second rounders. I don’t think Toppin was anything like a first round value here.

I’d be okay with him as a low key deadline but, I just don’t think he’d get a lot of time here and might not love that. Best take on it is he would fill a role that isn’t on the team right now as an athletic full sized four.

I wonder why he did that, at this time?

He's been up and down plenty. I don't think there's much to read into here. Couple games at home, bring him up. Maybe we kill the Spurs again and he can actually play.

He hasn't played for us (Boston Celtics) yet, right? -- I think that he's doing OK, up in Maine. No need to break that up.
I don't think that he'll even get in the Game during Garbage Time, anyway. Gotta wait 'til next season.

Celtics probably could get Jalen Smith or Obi Toppin if they wanted either one of them. Not sure they do.

Good roster, more size, balanced depth now . Even though they'll miss Brown, they have guys at that position. Nesmith better keep humpin' on defense cuz Mathurin will be on his heals to take that starting job. He's good.

I know. Celts17 put him on that list and I misread it that he was available. I was making a funny that Sochan sniffed a Celtic rumor and was trying to play his way out (rather than tank like the Spurs are actually doing).

They'll get another high pick this year and maybe Sochan will stick. Hard to say. He's not much of a PG or shooter yet but overall a good player to have or get some value back for.

... Now back to getting Moses Moody.

Giving Walsh some actual minutes will be a nice start.

Last time he was in Boston during a blowout he got no minutes. Peterson got minutes (OK, 2 minutes).

Brad needs to get Joe out of whatever that mindset is and ask him to get Walsh in for a few.

Season is at half-way point, give him a taste Joe!

How about a two part trade with Orlando

Cole Anthony and Wendell Carter Jr in to Boston (Anthony fits into the Grant TPE, Carter needs to be matched)

Pritchard, Kornet, Banton, Svi, 2024 First, and 3 2nds to Orlando.

Maybe a homer trade but Orlando would still have Black, Fultz, and Pritchard at the 1 and have been playing Goga and Mo a lot. They get some draft capital and Pritchard.

White, Jrue, JB, JT, Porzingis
Anthony, Hauser, Horford, and Carter Jr is your top 9. Still have Brisset, Queta too.

So basically replace Pritchard and Kornet with Anthony and Carter and give up some draft capital. On paper that seems good. I worry about Carters weight and breaking up Chemistry. I think Orlando might want a better first, something further out that has a chance not to be # 30…
Anthony also extended so he has a poison pill contract. I don’t know that he fits the TPE now.

Hasn't played due to a respiratory issue. Quite serious, serious enough to be waived. Probably can't play professional basketball long term.

Brad is not going to mess with the chemistry of this current group. Not happening. If anything, he will add to the existing group of players. I see Svi, Banton, and Lamar Stevens as the only candidates that could be on the move to match salaries in a smallish deal. There's no sense in shaking things up on a roster that has all the ingredients needed to win a title AND happens to get along really well.

I think Pritchard, Hauser, Kornet, OB are all safe unless a great trade opportunity is presented to Brad.

I'm actually starting to think the way Brad adds to the roster is by adding a veteran that gets waived. That might be it. Keep a close eye on the buy-out market. Keep the assets. Keep the roster set.

I think Pritchard is the distributing, tough nosed defender the Knicks want behind Brunson.

Give us Grimes.
