Collins probably makes more sense than Barnes because the Celtics could avoid the tax this year. I mean $25 million of Collins vs $22 million of Barnes. Collins is younger. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ainge is making a major push for Collins

While I salute your memory of song lyrics that were new in your childhood, I think it would be cringeworthy to put "love" in the title of any trade thread so long as Kevin Love remains in the league.

Toronto doesn't have the cap space. Salaries would have to match. Besides, why should the go into the tax to do the Celtics a favor?
It has to be OKC or the Knicks if we are trading TT. And then it would be TT and one of OUR picks for cash or a top 55 protected 2nd rounder.
Alternatively, the Kings would have to take him after they shed Barnes. The Kings are right at the cap now, so Barnes into the Celtics' TPE puts then at $87M so the could take up to $22M off the Celtics hands, if incentivized to do so.

I think that TT to Toronto rumors came from the Toronto side.

And it's not Toronto doing the Celts a favor because the Raptors badly need a Center.

If it were up to me, I wouldn't trade TT to Toronto.

My MAX offer would be:

1st + 2 2nds + Teague for Collins and Rondo.

1st + 2 2nds + Semi/Grant Williams for Barnes

2 1sts + 2nds + Semi for J Grant

1st + 2 2nds +, Grant Semi/Grant Williams for A Gordon.

I believe all are reasonable offers.

I don't love Collins game. I'd rather have lonzo as rfa add. But I was listening to a podcast with Karalis and forsberg and I liked the idea of getting a young guy like this and eventually using them as trade ballist for Beal. I think Collins may get stupid money from Minnesota though. You could always work a sign and trade for like Beasley back but that's not really the long term goal here

It’s all about adding talent. You can make trades later. Can’t make trades if you have nothing that teams want.
