No he doesn't.

No, no indication.

Everyone feels the same.

No, NBDL contract does not impact his nba draft rights. I've heard his playing is completely dependant on his ankle injury.

4-6% is what I've heard as the "essential" minimum %age for men. 7% already puts you below most professional athletes.

He may be off about his own %age. But, if so, it's more likely to be higher than lower.

My understanding (possibly ill informed) is that the "essential minimum" is not a fixed thing. Person to person, body type, etc. And pro athletes are exceptions in so many ways that it's hard to put a number on them. They're probably the ones who flout what a normal person would experience to be a healthy floor. I bet some of these guys are 3% or something sickly like that. They're the freaks among us.

Anyway, I'm not worried about Yabu keeping his body in shape. He's made physical strides in his career, so he clearly applies himself. And it sure seems to me that the imports like Yabu have a real perspective on life that Mr. Basketball Ohio never got.

People seem to be more worried about his frame than his actually body weight. The kid had never done any real weight training befor his 19th birthday. I wouldn't be worried about Yabs putting on weight more so needing to add upper body strength and do more sculpting of his lower body. Signing with Maine and working with the C's staff over the summer should be helpful for his training reg.

Well, I am no expert in the subject either. But I have read a number of times down through the years that that 6-8% range is where the "freaks among us" typically are situated, and that most claims to 2-4% are usually based on questionable calculation methods.

Pretty academic, though - give or take a couple percentage points doesn't change much. Whatever the actual number, Yabs fitness is not comparable to Sully's. I agree with Elrod's general point that his size seems to be basically natural/normal for him.

Sullinger weighed in the 260's with 10% body fat in college. He looked like this:

If Sully had kept his weight down we wouldn't have had a problem. Yabs and his 7% body fat is just fine.

Was there a Vitor Faverani sighting in there?

276 with 7% body fat is still 253 lbs of bone. Water and mostly muscle. That's massive. And. At 7% body fat at that weight, he is by no means fat.

How many players in the NBA are over 270 lbs? How many players in NBA are over 253 lbs? Which is his muscle weight.

Yeah, people like the long skinny types who are jumpers. I like strength, size and explosiveness.

I think yabs has power. Which should hold up.

What a breath of fresh air Zizic is going to be here next season. It's like having two top 10 picks coming in instead of one

Nice to see Mickey blocking shots again. It seemed like he had lost the ability to block shots this season until today.

See that right there is what worries me. Mickey is pure garbage, and scored almost as much as Nader, who we collectively hope has some ability that he could bring to the Celtics.

We'll never know until Nader faces real NBA competition. But looking beyond the stats, he seems to have a diverse offensive game, good size for his position, tools to become at least decent on defense, and by all indications, a great work ethic. I'm cautiously optimistic he can become a rotational player at best. Barring a trade that sends multiple players out, he'll only likely be a 12th-to-15th guy on the roster next season (like James Young this season).

Yeah, two things on that. There is tons of inaccurate testing so a lot of fake numbers out there. Two, I don't think team sports are even at that much of an extreme in body comp relative to the sports that have weight classes like wrestling where people are freakishly trying to manipulate their body comp. At some point it becomes a negative to force your body fat down below a certain level.

Dude. I like Nader. If we sign him and he can't play, cut him. What's up with hand-wringing about second round picks?
