I think it mostly has to do with having cost controlled talent. They have nearly all their money tied up in their top 5 guys. I think they want to keep Hayward here long term and obviously Tatum is getting paid. Having these young guys locked down to cheap deals is likely the best way to fill out the rest of the roster with competent talent
