Given that he wasn't actually traded to anybody, we have little evidence he was available at a bargain price.

Ya know, I just thought of one psychological reason that Ainge might be predisposed to value "prospects" more highly than some GMs do -- he was once a professional baseball player himself.

I think it mostly has to do with having cost controlled talent. They have nearly all their money tied up in their top 5 guys. I think they want to keep Hayward here long term and obviously Tatum is getting paid. Having these young guys locked down to cheap deals is likely the best way to fill out the rest of the roster with competent talent

Correct.
I don't believe in statistics. There are too many factors that can't be measured. You can't measure a ballplayer's heart. -Red Auerbach

It's worth noticing how impressive it is that we've been able to win all these games with such a young team - right now Brad Wanamaker is the only player on the roster in his 30s..

Not only that --consider the crazy number of injuries. We may have won even more.

However, we also lost some games due to the inconsistent effort from one game to the next. This may, in part, be attributed to youth.

except Edwards can guard NBA point guards. IT can't guard a chair.

Overstated.
IT can definitely guard a chair. Long as it doesn't have wheels on the bottom.

If Washington manages to get Wiseman (now that teams with worst records have centers on their roster) think Bryant could be had at a reasonable price?

What do people think about trading for Embiid in the off season?

I presume the price is something like Jaylen, Rob and a bunch of picks.

The big problem in evaluating Embiid, of course, would be his health.

Or the efficacy of a max-contract center in the modern game.

Embiid not the problem in Philly, Simmons is.

Needs the ball to be effective, but giving it to him marries you to a below average offense.

Would rather target bryant, collins or allen or one of the guys in the draft.

Assuming health, he's worth it for his defense if his net offensive contributions are merely "good". And they'd be a lot better than "good" if he simply kept his current strengths and got coached up to set crisper screens.

Probably, but Embiid does give me a bit of a Dwight Howard vibe.
