Would we have seen PP's stunning ascension and supremely confident swag under Idoka ? Doubt it.Joe Mazz is a madman but he is the best coach we have had since KC Jones

It's a pet peeve that Celtics fans who post on forums don't even know how to spell the names of their players (used to happen a lot with Gordon Hayward being called Haywood). For teammates, this is a tradeable offense.

Heard this on KOC pod via Tom Haberstroh...

Payton Pritchard has the 2nd most makes in EOQ scenarios (not end of game) in last 2 seasons behind D'Aaron Fox. He's shooting 35% on those, 10% higher than the league average.

His effective FG% on these buzzer beaters (1 second or fewer left in quarter) is 47%, 13% higher than league average. His 3FG% in these scenarios is 35%, which is about league average in all situations, not just buzzer beaters.

Currently 5th in made threes shooting 43% on 9 attempts per game. Going to be very tough to keep that up but great start to the season for Pritch.

I said last year sometime that PP could be this generation's Danny Ainge and I stand by that.

Aside from his increased scoring production (and his 3 point shooting) , "Heave Gawd" has really improved his defensive/two way game, obviously not on the same level as his more celebrated team mates but highly enough for Joe to trust him with meaningful minutes off the bench.

So proud of the lad.

What is insane about his 47% buzzer beater percentage is that he started out something like 0-8.

The heaves are fun and all. But this is the biggest story of the Celtics' season so far. At the age of 27, PP he is playing like he's taken a step up from solid bench scorer, to bona-fide, undisputed, quality NBA 6th man. Shooting splits of .449/.349/.917 while also increasing his shot volume.

I went into last season with Pritchard and Banton on equal footing in terms of earning backup PG minutes.
By the end of last season I felt like Pritchard can probably be penciled in to take over Holiday's role when Jrue is no longer starting for us. Years from now, hopefully:)

As Tatum, Brown, and White get better, Pritchard will too -- and can hopefully be a starter on a title team.
I never would have thought that two years ago!

I think many commentators missed the point with Pritchard. Sure he's a 40% three point shooter and that's nice. But there are plenty of 40% three point shooters in the league. Pritchard gives you more. He does not turn the ball over. He can get where he wants to get on the court. He's an excellent rebounder for a small guy and he usually makes the right pass. He can be overmatched defensively by taller players but he does not give an inch. And he's a 90% free throw shooter so there is no problem with using him at the end of close games.

It's pretty clear that TJ McConnell and Pritchard are the best small guards in the league.

PP worked hard and it's paying off.

Wouldn't be surprised if he wins 6th man.

And the icing on the cake is PP is under contract until 2028.

PP currently at 16.5 ppg, which is something that hasn't been averaged by a Celtics bench player since the later years of Kevin McHale. Pritchard putting up numbers similar to Brogdon in his 6th Man season with the Cs.
