What Up!
Just found an article about Carl Landry talking about our Rookies, and hinting at signing with the Celtics

?:
Landry: Johnson, Moore are NBA ready
Having played with and against the NBA's best, Landry said Johnson and Moore have bright professional basketball futures.
"They definitely are NBA players," Landry said. "I'm ready to play the Celtics. I'm going to show the rookies a little something. They definitely should help that team.
"Me, along with everybody in West Lafayette and Lafayette, knows that those guys will contribute. It's crazy that they were drafted by the same team. That just doesn't happen."
While Landry has said that he enjoys playing in New Orleans and would be interested in playing for the Indiana Pacers or his hometown Milwaukee Bucks, he is intrigued by the Celtics.
"What would be even more weird is if the Boston Celtics sign me," Landry said. "Anything is possible. With free agency, you really just never know. We could be Purdue East."
First of all GET THIS GUY AND DITCH BIG BABY

!!!!
Second, im glad that he feels this way about our rooks, they could maybe be a reason for Landry to sign with the Celtics.

Idk Landry is a better Glen Davis but he's still undersized
We need Size!
But he would be a great addition regardless

He is undersized, but he can jam. He has vertical athleticism, which is just 1000x better than the bunny hop Baby tries to do.

He may be the best player available for the MLE. Not sure he is a great fit though unless KG plans on playing a lot of Center. I enjoyed watching him against the Lakers in the playoffs. Dude can ball.

Perfect replacement for Glen Davis. Landry brings everything we'd lose from losing Glen Davis and more. Would be a great signing if Ainge can get it done.

I wouldnt sign him more than one year contract. Just dont want to take chance on sign dh12 if it is even 10 percent.

Hey, if we could land him via a reasonable sign and trade, great. Worthy of good consideration, at least.
If we had to use the MLE, we could do worse but IMO we'd be better off signing a wing and bringing BBD back.

Landry >>>>>>>> BBD
He'd probably best fit as a guy off the bench behind KG playing a lot of minutes, ala BBD, if it's between him and a true center we need a real center. He's got skills though, better scorer and rebounder than Davis though I'm not sure what level he defends at.

His defensive stats have never been very good. By the numbers and on/off court metrics etc over the past few years he computes as an offensive role player. He is approaching peak age though and could show general improvement a la David West. Of course, he doesn't have BBD's lower body strength.

Yeah, I thought as much defensively, I haven't seen enough of him actually playing though. Either way, after watching BBD miss assignments throughout the playoffs he can't be any worse.

I love Big Baby's lateral speed on defense, we would miss that if we brought in Landry and let BBD leave.

Would've been more interested in signing him if we hadn't drafted Johnson. I know the kid was a late first rounder in a weak draft but he was one of the few guys in the draft I felt could come directly into the NBA and fill a role because I felt everything he does well would translate.
I also think on the Celtics is given a consistent role with the big four that he'll be a major upgrade on Big Baby in the same role. I think to score points (which has developed into the Celtics biggest problem) that they're going to have to play KG more at center.
That lineup should give them the extra spacing that Paul and Ray need to make up for slowing down. I think it will help Ray stay at his current level and might allow Paul to turn back the clock a bit.
We certainly need to run more and with Baby we didn't have enough guys to run with him and finish, now with Johnson, Green, Bradley we should be able to run and pressure full court more which is a great help to Rondo.
We still need at least one more center, we actually need two because O'Neal will surely get hurt at some point but I think that we still need a backup for Pierce and Ray who can create for themselves.

I've been saying this for a long time... If Danny does a S & T deal of sorts that includes some sort of package around players like Rondo, Green, Davis, J Oneal and in return lands a combination of CP3, Landry, Ariza, Okafor that the Celtics will be true Title contenders next year.

And I think that many of us have been saying
this for a long time as well ... C's arent trading Rondo.

I prefer Baby's superior athletic ability and basketball IQ.

Davis is actually a better rebounder and defender, while Landry is a better offensive player. The other issue is that Baby can give you mins at the 5, Landry can't. If Boston lets Davis go then they have to replace him with a player who can give them mins at the 5.

Agreed Sully, Carl Landry is a nice offensive weapon but little else. Though the Celtics DO need offense and players who can be explosive scorers they have a greater need for bigs who can play alongside KG and defend the paint.
So if there is still an MLE in the new CBA I'd much rather the Celtics try to lure Foster, Kwame, etc. for one year at a good chunk of the MLE.
Only resign Davis if it's on a one year deal.
