I have to hand it to Sully, the mods and all the contributors at Realgm Celtics. Us Celtics fans have a lot of options when it comes to discussing Hoops. But Realgm is where it's at. For the most part we have great Celtics discussions. We can turn a first RD loss into weeks of quality NBA banter. We dont all agree but thats what makes it fun. The "bball iq" here is HIGH versus the majority of the Celts boards. Lets keep it rolling

Well said, ddb. If you wanna know how fortunate we are go check out the cluster***k that is the Knicks board or better yet celtics blog. We got it good here.
At the risk of sounding corny you all should know how much I enjoy reading you guys. We got some great writers here and I'm looking forward to this offseason as the herd is thinned of the bandwagon fans and the Celts transition into their next phase.
The glory days of this board for me was 2005-2007 when there were an infinite amount of possibilities and a ton of different factions (like Marcus vs. Delonte). This could potentially be the most interesting time to be on this board since then. Should be fun.

So much this. Not that times haven't been good here during the big 3 era, but until just recently (well, this season), the biggest debates generally have been about tertiary concerns (Do we have the right 14th or 15th man on the roster? The career arcs of Baby VS Bass? Could a live action Shrek starring Nate/Baby actually work? Did delonte bang Lebron's mom) that I don't think anyone was too attached to any side of the debate. Rather, it appears we are headed back to the glory days of fiercely defended positions (e.g., Jiri vs Ricky, defending the Raef trade, what to do with our trio [Rondo, West, Allen] of talented young guards, etc.) that are fueled by actual roster flexibility (not that this is necessarily a good thing, though as far as internet forum banter goes I would argue it is) which we simply haven't had since having the contracts of KG/Ray/Paul.
What I've always loved about this board is the discussion of young talent. Be it pre-draft, summer league, or the in-season attention that gets paid to guys like Gerald Green, Al Jefferson (I still remember this board going nuts when he hit one of his first game winners in Jersey over Krstic during a game in which he first looked like he could be 'the man.'), and insert-any-young-guards-name-here.
Giddy up, gents, should be a fun one.

Yeah, this is definitely the best place to discuss Celtics, or basketball in general. A lot of great posters on here with good insight, their own informative calculations, and passionate fans as well. Also definitely some funny posters to break up the seriousness

When I first discussed the Celtics online, Kevin McHale was still on the roster, and Reggie Lewis was still alive. This was on Prodigy, but the group having a good discussion was really only a few people.
Later in the 1990s, I migrated to the ESPN boards, and even built a fantasy league from the posters there that played in the early 2000s. (It was a Piston fan in that league who told me of the chair company from which Pierce ordered his custom-decorated Celtics chairs.)
But I've been pretty exclusive to this place for a decade or so now,

I should add that the player comparison forum here has a few guys who are VERY knowledgeable about basketball history and stats.

Where's Curmudgeon at? Will he re-appear if Paul Pierce is shipped out? It's a damn shame the guy didn't get a chance to eat his words after Pierce won Finals MVP in 2008.

Can't stand heaps of posters on this board.
Sorry it had to be said. We seem to have far too many fans of players and not enough Celtics fans.

"Can't stand" may be a bit strong (not telling you your own opinion, but for me).
The player on player fanboy duels are f*cking nauseating though. Everything else is solid.

Has anyone figured out if Jiri Welsh was a good shooter. Damn guy was suppose to be a knockdown shooter, all he did was miss.
And, greatest time was when Jerome Moiso grew like 2 inches and was officIally a seven foot. We got so excited, then we traded him.

If it wasn't for that hand injury, Jiri would have been top 5 franchise history. I can't even picture him without his hand wrapped.
Danny should get GM of the year again THIS year for getting a first rounder for Jiri.

Memories, even if they refer to bad situations, always give you some nostalgia...

This will end as soon as PP retires.
