I'm a little late to all this, but love all the lists.... This is in particular is one of my favorite Neil tunes:

So, I had to make my own list. Top of it is everything off Jimi's Axis Bold As Love. Rest in the spoiler. Guitar heavy.
Spoiler:
Ted Leo - Shake the sheets

Built to Spill - Carry the Zero

Screaming Females - Doom 84

Dr. John - Locked Down

Soundgarden - Non-State Actor. From their underappreciated last album.

Buddy Guy - My Time After Awhile

Ty Seagall - Tall Man Skinny Lady

Nick Cave - Dig Lazarus Dig

Mclusky - She Will Only Bring you Happiness

Ted Leo again - Bottled in Cork

I'm weirdly the other way. Started with FUEL then back-tracked into Copper Blue & Beaster albums and loved those 2. Always meant to go further back to Husker Du, but when I tried it never stuck - though I liked what I heard last week on the radio after Grant Hart died. Bob Mould even had a pretty rocking eponymous solo album if I remember right.

Speaking of Aus, a band from Newcastle I really dig just released their second EP "Aphotic". Sonic, instrumental metal/post rock I guess you would call them.

My two favourite tracks from their first EP:

Even better when you throw a little Carl Sagan in for good measure.

You don't need to be a fan of Godsmack to appreciate Sully Erna's solo stuff. His newest album "Hometown Life" is really good. This is him paying tribute to Chris Cornell in Amsterdam this month. My friend is in the band as well. He uses mostly local (NH) musicians for his solo stuff.

My current nº1 song (both theme and anime opening)

Mio Yamazaki: Noise

Opening from Jigoku Shōjo: Yoi No Togi. Hell's Girl 4th Season, I guess.

Simple and delicate but sharp-edged and disturbing at same time.

I haven't seen it yet but I am amped for Blade Runner. The early reviews are extremely promising.

Ray Charles actually made two albums: Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music and Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Volume Two.

The best burritoes song has to be Rick Roberts' "Colorado," which was covered by Linda Ronstadt and others. And this one:

Think that's my quote being attributed to Hick for some reason.

Thanks for the info on Ray, didn't know about the second album.

And yeah, Colorado is ace.

"Wheels" is my all time fav though.

I don't know how I hadn't heard of Run the Jewels before. Great rap duo.

I just picked those three, but they have a lot of good tracks. All their albums are given away free online.
See their youtube for all the albums, and they probably have a website too to download them:

Sorry about the incorrect attribution.

There was a country rock revival in the late 60's, after the Byrds released "Sweetheart of the Rodeo." After the original Burrito Brothers broke up, Chris Hillman joined J.D. Souther and Richie Furay (from Buffalo Springfield) to form the Souther Hillman Furay Band. Then Furay joined Jim Messina and Rusty Young (on steel guitar) to form Poco.

To be a stickler, after Chris Hillman left the Burritos, he joined forces with Steve Stills. Manassas, remember?
