RealGM

We had a good season in a lot of ways, but we're still very far away. We've got a lot of positives to look forward to, notably:

Draft Lottery, May 17th
NBA Draft, Late June
NBA free agency, early July
Summer League, mid July

We have many avenues to get better and I'm very excited for our future. We're going to be a better team next year than we were this year, and I can't wait to see how we look next year.

As an aside, let's please keep this forward looking and not revert to a Tank Vs Anti-Tank dick measuring contest. We didn't tank, so it's pointless to debate.

In my ideal/realistic off-season:

Do not offer Sully the QO
Let Turner walk
Do not pick up Amir's option
Get lucky in the draft lottery, pick Simmons
Sign Whiteside to a max deal
Bring IT off the bench

Roll with the following Lineup:

Smart/IT
AB/Rozier
Crowder/RJ Hunter
Ben Simmons/Jerebko
Whiteside/Olynyk

Not a title contender, no, but a realistic young team who has strong potential going forward.

What do you guys want to see? What's your realistic off season?

Disappointing end to the season. Really hope we hit it big in the lottery.

The wound may be too fresh right now, but if we start next season with what you are proposing I would be sick. With all the assets and cap space, while I agree is realistic, isn't a direction I would want to go. I don't truly have a plan of my own at this time, and I'm not trying to come off as salty, but why would Danny take a team that has little offense and try to improve it by moving their best offensive player to the bench and not acquire one offensive player? Also, not sure counting on lottery luck is all that realistic either. I think it is more realistic to think Danny makes a trade then get lottery luck. I appreciate your thoughts, just don't agree.

Not sure how you are disappointed? You are of course entitled to your feelings, but after Bradley went down expectations had to be tempered.

Good season. Very important playoff series because it exposed some of our weaknesses, such as lack of creative scorers and a lack of spot up shooters. We got to go back to drawing board on our bigs.

Im doubting we can get one max agent nevermind two. Hoping we can get a top two pick and maybe some bargains in free agency. I think Terrence Jones could be a good pick up.

How do you know what we can, can not get?

Not to jump, but we think so small here. I doubt Kevin Durant comes, but we can get players. We need a scorer and shooter and some better bigs.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, though people will go ballistic if they do the opposite of consolidate.

1) We need a big in the worst way possible. Whiteside is the best and most realistic big available

2) IT will be even better on the second unit. If this post season taught me anything, IT cant sustain his offense when game planned against. I still want him to get 32 minutes a game, but I want to control his match ups.

3) Simmons scored at a near 75% clip at the rim, and is athletic enough to get there at will.


You're probably right, regarding a trade. The Simmons hope is from the romantic in me, who wants to cheer for a top 5 potential guy again. May 17th cannot come soon enough.

Yeah. Shooters and scorers. Bazemore looks amazing. HOw about a guy like Caldwell-Pope or Terrence Ross. These aren't great players, just decent NBA starters, and they are world's better than anyone we have as far as shooting and shot making. I like the IT and Bradley backcourt and Smart as the third combo guard. Eventually, Smart should start.

But, our SF, PF and C positions are terrible offensively. Crowder doesn't work when we have stiffs at the 4 and 5. Not against good teams. We have to either find a big-time 4 or 5 to score, or move Crowder to the bench as a 3 and D stretch 4 who can cover multiple positions. I think Crowder's limited ability to create offense and handle the ball kills us against good teams.

One of my guys texted me saying Danny and Doc are already in talks on Blake Griffin. You heard it here first!

Sad injuries really killed the end of our season. Disappointing but we were never truly contenders and we at least won a few games and made a good showing despite our injury issues.

Now we have another offseason with so much potential. Just by the sheer number of picks we have, their has to be some deals. We know where the Brooklyn pick is on May 17th. From then until the draft. We will read enough fake rumors to make our eyes bleed. Now lets light some **** fireworks.

Its the same song and dance. We were going to sign a max guy last year too and walked away with Amir Johnson. We can have all the capspace in the world but until we get that max guy holding up his new celtics jersey i wont believe it.

Nets pick I'd assume since he mentions value high in the draft.

Whiteside? Horford? Counsins? Durant?

Listed in order of likelyhood, although ironically almost reverse order of desirability.

Draft first though, c'mon top 2 pick!
