Blake Griffin’s Time With the Clippers Could Be Coming to an End; Where Might He Land?(...)
There are two possible avenues the Clippers could go down in terms of building a trade for Blake: They could enter a star exchange or they could bolster their supporting cast. Flipping Griffin for Durant would be the best-case scenario, but there are plenty of interesting options out there.
(...)
Blake to Boston for Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, and Kelly OlynykThe Celtics have been trying to turn four quarters into a dollar for well over a year, linking themselves to every star rumored to be on the trading block. Blake would certainly fit their desire for an elite player who could turn Isaiah Thomas into a second option, although they might prefer to move Marcus Smart into the deal to maintain some semblance of shooting from the perimeter. Bradley and Crowder would give the Clippers a fearsome perimeter defensive duo to put next to Paul and DeAndre, and those four could easily allow for J.J. Redick or Olynyk to hide on an opponent’s weakest link, depending on the matchups.

A lack of puns in the thread title
I still like Where Ainges Fear to Trade. Nudge-nudge, wink-wink.

Trade for Blake right now and you have a much better shot at Durant. Of course, the Clips are meeting with Durant too, so that's probably not happening.

Gotcha.
Celtics' actions have been so deflating of late. We need a Pick-Me-Up.

Rumor buzz subsiding while:
A. Teams talk to agents, line up meetings, suss out which players and teams have mutual interest, degrees of interest.
B. Teams talk to each other about cap clearing deals (e.g. Amir/JJ's team options) and the rumors haven't trickled out yet.

Pretty sure the Clips would need to trade Blake to sign Durant. Or Deandre.

I'd be in for Blake on a reasonable offer. I wouldn't be scared off by Bradley, Crowder, and KO (and say a 16/23 caliber pick). I think he matches up well with many of our EC rivals, he could use a change of scenery, and I think he would mesh well with our culture here. Plus, with Brown, Smart, Rozier, Hunter, etc. in the fold, I think there is fair odds we could get much of what we lose in Bradley from internal development (I hope).
I guess I remain intrigued if we can get Cousins for 50 cents on the dollar. Not a fan or his character, but, at the right cost, he remains very intriguing.

I wonder if IT/AB for Khris Middleton is something either Boston or Milwaukee would do.
For Boston it takes away our go-to option but dramatically improves our size on the wing and gives us an extra year of contract control (plus a younger player). Milwaukee gets the scoring boost from IT and maintains shooting/defensive integrity with AB. Their size is not an issue with that monster frontcourt.
I think we could follow that up with Ricky Rubio deal to replace IT - something like pure cap space and a future lotto-protected first (the Thad Young memorial package)
That would give us a much bigger, more imposing, more versatile backcourt, albeit with less scoring punch.

I actually think it can happen despite the ridicule that view attracts.

Probably not for us, the cost control with that backcourt is huge, and we're trading 30+ points a night for 18.
Taking Monroe's contract in order to get Middleton could be an option, if Milwaukee really wants to reboot half their roster. Don't think it was about the third pick with them. Start with Avery and add Olynyk/Young/Rozier/1sts from there.

Seems like something we'd do if we knew Jaylen was the 2nd coming. In the absence of that, seems like too big of a PR/morale hit to move IT for someone of Middleton's caliber. Despite his inability to shoot, I do think Rubio could be stolen for minimal value and he has a future yet in this league. That said, as a Minnesotan, my understanding is that he will also be quite unrealistic about what he deserves with his next contract. For what it's worth, I do know a few chickas who lived nearby to Ricky. Sounds like he is a class act, good dude, and stays out of trouble.

I'm sure they're still shopping them but the value they're getting offered back is probably like Jarrett Jack and a future 2nd rounder heh

Outside of deals involving freeing up capspace and sign and trades, You don't normally see the big deals happen until later in July or August.
