A recent article on The Ringer https://theringer.com/who-wants-jahlil-okafor-303e9d13169#.6a95ly3p0 discusses the fact that the 76ers pretty much have to trade one of their big men, and that Okafor is the one who fits least well with Ben Simmons. Other teams know this, which is likely to diminish his trade value (as would playing limited minutes if he is on their roster to start the season.) On draft night, I would have been satisfied if the C's had traded the 3rd pick straight up for him, but this article suggests that his price could now be even lower than that.

What would you give up for Okafor? Obviously not a Brooklyn pick, but a rotation player? Future picks (their own) plus some combo of Rozier/Yabusele/Zizic/Mickey/Hunter? Or do you want no part of him at all? IMO, a big man who is skilled offensively and a decent rebounder still has some value, even if he's not a great defender at this stage of his career. I'd definitely go with a future 1st plus any 2 of the aforementioned non-rotation players. I feel like Colangelo will be looking for more than that though, at least initially.

I basically agree. But I wouldn't be stingy with minor assets to sweeten the deal, e.g. Young/Hunter if Philly wants to try one of them out, or even the Clippers pick.

Trading for Okafor is a gamble; there's no guarantee he earns minutes here either.

How does Okafor's game not "fit" with Simmons? What exactly are they referring to? Okafor, if nothing else, has some offensive game plus he can pass and be as good a recipient of Simmons' passes and finisher you'll find. He and Simmons will be a great fit. Once camp starts and they start playing together any (Please Use More Appropriate Word) talk about that will disappear. Okafor is super young and it would'nt surprise me if he comes into camp 20 lbs lighter and more explosive.

I'm sure G.M.s are trying to get BK17 which Danny absolutely should not trade. So eventually they'll ask for BK18 which, due to being farther out and that draft not quite as strong as 17, might get DA to bite but I doubt it's gotten past teams wanting the BK17. PHI probably needs to move one of the players. Why people assume it's Okafor is beyond me. There's so much risk with Embid and Noel is a decent but not great player.

The real question is would/should DA move one or both of the BK picks and for who. Barring it being Westbrook who agrees to an extension I have no desire to watch some other team draft a player in the top 3 of two of the better drafts of the last 30 years and watch that player that could have been ours become an all star or elite

Wow. Is that all it would take? They can have everyone listed in that article except Zizic, MIckey, and Guerschon but its not like Philly needs more bigs anyway.

So they can have Rozier, Demetrius Jackson, Young, Hunter, Marcus, and Bentil too if they want him. Any combination of those players they want, fine with me. We'd still have 14 players if they took all 6.

Okafor, Horford, Amir, Kelly, Zizic, Mickey, Guerschon, Nadar, Jae, Brown, Jerebko, Avery, IT, Smart. Sign a vet point guard and we've got a full roster.

Id give them a few options.
Option 1 Smart for Okafor straight up

Option 2 Rozier and a pair of future 2nd rnders

Option 3 one non Brooklyn future first and any 2 of these pupu platter of young players Young/Hunter/Jackson/Bentil/Yabbadabbadoo

A pupu platter: Young, Thornton, Iverson, Jackson, Bentil + a future 2nd rounder. Okafor could be a backup scoring big for the Cs (ala Kanter/Jefferson/Monroe) and could be flipped for assets or a veteran player later on. I'm not a fan of Jah so hopefully, the Cs don't give anything of significance for him.

I'm with CK on this one. The players he listed + a future 2nd or the LAC/MEM pick. I'd prefer to keep Smart and Rozier. Rozier I think will be a good rotation player for us this season, and he's still improving. I'd actually prefer Noel over Okafor if given a choice.

Very little, as any move for him reduces potential assets to acquire a true star.

Nothing. His defense is so bad that there is no place for him on the floor.

Don't love Okafor at this point but 1). I think they can raise his trade value into a better trade chip down the road 2.) he's the only rumored trade target that allows them to keep max cap space open for FA next year.

Wouldn't give up much for him though.

The thing with okafor is that he's got so much offensive potential but gets negated by his defensive woes to the point that it looks ugly. My personal preference would be noel but if DA and Stevens think they can embed a defensive mindset with the guy through effort with Okafor, then it might be worth a shot to trade for him with a Non BKN 1st round pick + jackson (PG they need) + young / hunter.

Edit: I think his defense would improve with the help of Jae, bradley, and smart training with him. not to the elite level though, maybe average is his ceiling.

I think it is important to remember that any player can look like a loser on a bad team and can conversely look like a different player on a winning team.

One of: Rozier or 2018 Boston pick.
+ A few of: Hunter, Mickey, Jackson, Bentil, Young

So Rozier+ Hunter is the highest I'd go.
