Bradley on Brown: "he's going to prove a lot of people wrong"

Good stuff from Avery:
http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2016/10/avery_bradley_is_very_excited.html"First of all because he's just a freak already," Bradley said. "He comes in every single day, working hard. He just has to learn the game and learn how to work even harder on the defensive end. And I feel like he's going to prove a lot of people wrong. Whoever thought whatever they thought about him or didn't know much about him, he's going to show everybody."
Also, love this quote from Brown about playing PF:
After allowing Kaminsky an easy baseline drive out of the post, Brown went to the tape to watch film of his defensive possessions. Though he has played power forward for a large chunk of his preseason minutes, he said he rarely played there during his lone college season. Learning how to guard bigger guys is an adjustment, but Brown doesn't sound too concerned.
"Kaminsky's not -- I don't think he's stronger than me," he said. "So he's got a size advantage, but if I do my work early then he's pretty much beat. He got me on a couple plays and he's a really good player, but I feel comfortable guarding the 4."

I think Jaylen's right about Frank for the most part but Frank is one of the weaker and odder PFs in the game right now - a stick skinny perimeter 5 stuck playing as a slow/weak 4 because of Charlotte's bizarre frontcourt pairings. Jaylen should worry more about getting out-muscled and outworked by Trevor Booker because that's the type of PF he'll likely see more of.
Look at some of the other back-up bigs in the division - Booker, Sully, O'Quinn (who knows what Philly's going to trot out). Beefy, physical glass-eaters. Of course Jaylen can blow by them on the other end but as a lower-usage rookie playing with our bench's meh spacing, he's not likely to get a ton of opportunities to take advantage, while rebounding is an every possession battle.

I actually think our spacing may be a little better than expected if Rozier can shoot decently, plus, Kelly and Green are very good shooters. Smart is a huge bricklayer but hopefully the others can open lanes for brown to blow by 4's.

More proving Ainge right than others wrong...other than second guessers.

I fully admit I'm overboard on brown. I have a tendency to think a rookie Celt who plays well is gonna be so much better than they really are.
For example, I jumped off the couch when RJ Hunter hit a 3 in preseason last year and said, " there's our future starting 2 guard!" Oh boy.
I'm now afraid of trading Brown for even say .. Jimmy Butler straight up. But at least I know I'm crazy.

Well 90% of rookies fail in this league, so just temper yourself with those expectations.
So anytime you can trade for an all-star with one of them even at the cost of them plus the 2 Brooklyn picks... the odds are endlessly in the favor of the person getting the established all-star winning that trade by a landslide.

He's a Celtic at heart. I wonder if Ainge would have taken him over Simmons or Ingram. I don't think Simmons is known to have this mindset, not sure about Ingram. But, Brown is def our kind of guy.

I was devastated after another lottery heartbreak, was in favor of a trade for Okafor or Butler (not if it included a future BK pick), wavered between wanting Bender, Hield, Brown, even maybe Chriss, finally settling on Dunn when the clock ticked down...now I'd take Brown over any of them, would be upset if we trade him, and hold out hope he could be better than Ingram or Simmons in the long run. First real binky in years.

I really thought we needed a huge upgrade at SG and one that could shoot the lights out. Jamal Murray is the exact player we needed. I felt that then and still feel that way. With IT and Rozier penetrating he'd been perfect to kick it out too. Also, he can play both guards spots and has excellent passing ability and help defense. I don't really see any holes in is game except D but he has that drive to be great so he'll work on that. You can work on defense with coaching, experience, hitting the weights, better conditioning and mostly effort. Also, because he's a combo guard he'd be ready to take over for when we lose either/both AB and IT in a couple years. I think it's much harder to make yourself a good shooter. So imo Murray, who's younger than Brown btw, will be a better player faster with less potential to bust. Right now watching Brown shoot is cringe worthy. Not that his form is bad but the results are almost always bad. He misses almost half his free throws. That said, Brown has incredible upside because of his size/speed combo that's so rare. If only he can learn to shoot better which should keep defenses honest allowing him to drive to the basket.

It is really fun to watch Jaylen Brown mature and grow. It's been a long time since we had an freak-athlete like him. He also seems to have excellent demenaor and be a nice guy, the vets have already accepted him. Exciting times ahead. If we only had gotten Bogut we could become a challenger.

Murray's currently hitting on 37% of his shots in the preseason and 34% from downtown. Not spectacular, but not too concerning, either. He got up a lot of shots in these games. Better shooter or not, Brown is going to be the better overall player.

That kills me dude, I don't know why we didn't. We know Ainge doesn't hold grudges and wouldn't give a **** about helping KD go to Oakland.

With Brown, he is 19 and has alot of development ahead....but when I watch him play, and the way he carries himself, I can't help but feel like we are looking at a future All-Star. He seems to have that "it" factor.

Think there's any chance Ainge would have taken this guy #1?

Would have taken Simmons #1. LBF can back me up on this one.

Agreed, I think J murray has something special and he's proven it at a high level. He's also got a swagger to him.

Definitely, slight chance he would have traded it and slight chance at simmons but I believe it was a consensus to draft him since the beginning TBH

some people in the organization definitely wanted simmons, but I think danny had his mind made up a very long time ago as to who he wanted at any of the top 3 spots if he was to keep the player and not trade.
