Proposed 2017-18 Celtics Roster? -- (UPDATE)

2017-18 Proposed Roster

Thomas / Rozier / Jackson
Bradley / Smart / Rookie (or Young)
Crowder / Brown / --------- / Nader -- Two-Way
Horford / Giles / Jerebko / Yabusele -- Two-Way
Okafor/FA / Zizic / Olynyk / Mickey

Gone
Amir J. / Zeller / Green / Young

I think that Danny either makes a Midseason Trade, or more likely, waits 'til the offseason, and goes for a FA.

We have fantastic positioning in the Draft, from Brooklyn.
And 3 players on Stash, who are all doing well, in Zizic, Yabusele and Nader.

I've generally been one of Olynyk's strongest defenders on here, but, I've always stated that I think he should be traded at the deadline in this, his final, rookie contract season.

No KO... maybe Rozier, Jerebko, Amir either. One of these days he HAS to make his big move.

Wow, really?
A 7-footer, that hits 3's and has good BBIQ. You don't think that we should re-sign him to the 2nd, or 3rd Unit?
I mean, we're paying Zeller (of all people) $8Mil.

Need our own athletic shot blocking 4/5, but then again almost every team in the league would love another one of those.

It doesn't sound like first rounders will be able to be on two-way deals. There may different rules for them. At least until all 30 teams have their own D-League squad.

And Griffin now sounds extremely unlikely to leave LA. Things would have to go south big time for him to leave.

Wait for the playoffs, after all they do have doc rivers.

Sign a stud C in the offseason.

Glad we are just thinking about this now! Wonder if any other teams have had this notion before?

Well to be fair they did just go sign Horford.

Griffin or back-up option Millsap. Or Hayward and trade Bradley+ package for a stud C. CP3, Curry, KD and Lowry are not coming here - so only 3 realistic options to sign on a max contract are these 3.

We don't want to Trade Bradley, for another Starter. Six = a half dozen. -- Plus, that would mess with our continuity. -- If we're going to Trade, then it has to be for non-core players. -- Elsewise, wait for Free Agency and Draft.

Any top talent we can acquire in free agency this offseason is good, regardless of position. If that means we can't find a big and we we end up with Gordon Heyward, that's fine by me. A glut of swings gives us extra depth to trade for a big. Danny can alway balance the roster later, but the more talent he has to trade from, the better.

Please don't say Noel.

Think there's a decent chance that he is our starter by the playoffs(probably sooner) and you don't get much for RFAs. What type of deal would you be looking at that doesn't majorly hurt our team? While 4 is the deepest position in the league, 2-way stretch 4s are fairly rare. Horford's the only big that is guaranteed to be here next year and he'll be 31. We'll still have to wait to see what the new RFA rules are, but we can be left with a much worse roster if we don't get one of those Tier A or Tier A- FAs and also lose KO.

We could add someone like Taj Gibson, Serge Ibaka, Kris Humphries, maybe Zach Randolph.

I could be completely off, but I think a contender would deal a 1st round pick. Though this year could be different with the Warrior superteam affecting teams' want to add a last piece for the playoffs.

I also think Jerebko could fill in much of what Olynyk does in stretching the floor and is modestly more agile defensively. Kelly is a more crafty in his low post offense, but he doesn't use it enough to make a sizable difference, imo.

Mainly, while I am not down on the team to say sell off everything, I don't believe they are in a position to truly compete and accumulating assets is still in favor here along with mitigating the loss of current assets for no value in return. The team ABSOLUTELY needs more 40%+ 3 point shooters. But I think with Horford in tow and 3/4 guys like Crowder and Brown on the roster, not to mention Yabu and Zizic coming over, Kelly being nearly exclusively a 5 is not the type of guy to allocated decent money to UNLESS the roster is pretty well set already. Continue to search for that shooting elsewhere. If Ainge uses the max salary slot for another star, that's a different story. But not knowing how plausible that will be makes me prefer to deal him.

A 7 footer that plays like he is a soft 6'7 SF. A 7 footer that can't rebound or create his own shot. He only shots when his is wide open. That's why he pump fakes a lot and gets his shots blocked when he forces things. A 4th year player that still isn't good enough to start over Amir Johnson.

He is a nice 10th-11th man.

I agree we need another legit big other than Horford. That big is not on this current roster. I want Okafor too. He would be good for this team.

From the numbers I see on BI, if the C's offer the QO to Olynyk and hold his cap figure of $7.7M, and keep the BK pick, it will be very difficult to sign a max FA and not diminish the roster to create space, especially if the pick is really high and the value rises under the new CBA. I have them at about $75 MM with Olynyk, the non guaranteed deals of Mickey and Jackson, and the rights to Yabu and Zizic. Then there are the first round pick and vet min cap slots to get to 15.
Note: 7 guaranteed deals.

I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a Blake Griffin thread.
