Love how I finally finished this post and the other thread was locked.

My list of trade targets right now:

1. Gorgui Dieng
2. Gorgui Dieng
3. Gorgui Dieng

He's on a team with a franchise center, who need defense, spacing, and toughness on the perimeter. Sound like something we have to offer?

He's 27 and owed $62M over the next 4 years. He's not a true rim protector. He is "low upside".

Meanwhile, he's smart and mobile, grabs D-boards, has a standstill 3, and can move off the ball. He does all the little things, the dirty work. +/- suggests he might be Minnesota's best player.

I think he's still improving. IMO he's on that Avery Bradley keep-getting-better track.

His shooting mechanics look very good. He shot .372 from distance this year, and I think he can improve on that. He's shot .434 from 16ft-3 both of the last two seasons so it's not too surprising. He's also shot over 80% from the line both of the last two seasons.

Maybe he has more value than I'm giving him credit for on the trade market. But if the Celts want to improve this team now, with an eye toward the post-LeBron NBA, it would make a ton of sense to add him instead of a "star" whose fit is less clear.

Sorry dude, once it hits 100, we are supposed to lock it. I just happened to pop on.

I think it's either Sign hayward or bust in this offseason. Any trade after hayward decision is likely to be just minor fix for back.ups whether he is a Celtic or not.

So given a scenario where we miss on Hayward and Danny finally tries to fix our Interior D and rebounding woes. Somebody want Biyombo?

Hell no. Just play Zizic.

Interesting. If we missed on free agents, Dieng/MIN '17 (Tatum?) would be a decent, like, Plan...Q.

Trade targets after we sign Hayward (if we sign Hayward):
• Kyle O'Quinn (2 years remaining at 4M/year; 2nd year is PO)
• Willy Hernangomez (3 years remaining at 1.5/year; 3rd year is NG)
• Trevor Booker (9M expiring)
• Tyson Chandler (2 years remaining at around 13M/year)
• Kenneth Faried (2 years remaining at around 13M/year)

Essentially, I'm looking for an Amir replacement/upgrade whose contract length doesn't go beyond Horford's. Trade cost varies of course and the 2018 pick is obviously off-limits unless it's a top 20-ish player. If we can sign a big who can bring comparable production using the MLE, then scrap my trade ideas hehe.

I don't think either Zizic or Yabu can make an immediate impact in terms of winning in their 1st year.

Will there be a Celtics Offseason Thread? Anyway, here's the latest episode of Locked On Celtics / RaininJs:
MassLive’s Jay King chats with guest Ryan Bernardoni aka @dangercart, an expert on the Celtics’ cap situation and what they could do in the future. Bernardoni breaks down offseason options from the No. 1 pick, to potential trades, to the contract situations of Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Kelly Olynyk.

I don't think there will be trades this summer for the C's.

Danny could wait until deadline in February. He could trade the 2018 Nets pick if the Nets are not in the bottom of the standings.
Same with Smart, IT and Bradley. I guess Danny has a right price in his mind for all of them. If they don't agree with it, trade them.

I like Trevor Booker if they go the stop gap route for PF. Kills two birds with one stone.

If Hayward comes (we say that a lot), I feel Bradley may be the one to go unfortunately. Crowders contract is just too good.

I would love to see a deal around Avery for Richaun Holmes and a pick. Bradley compliments Simmons so well and Holmes is exactly what we need in the front court and is still cheap and young.

He really flopped in Orlando...guess his time in Toronto was a fluke?

I'm still on the Nikola Vucevic bandwagon. I think he could be real good with this team. If the Celtics sign Hayward and draft Fultz, I would consider moving Crowder, Rozier and a lower first rounder for Vucevic.

I'm re-thinking my Faried idea. Remove him from my suggestions haha. We need to improve our interior defense, not worsen it. I'm not sure Vucevic helps in that department either. If we bring in Hayward and Fultz on top of what we have, we won't need the offense Vuc offers. And I certainly don't value him enough to give away Crowder. I wouldn't trade Jae for any of the names I mentioned except maybe Willy.

NBA teams don't play defense anymore. You need offense from all 5 positions if you are going to compete for a title.

This, for all of smarts great defense, all you have to do is switch off him and it's good night Irene. 70% shooting in the second half for the cavs.

Vucevic may not be the player but you need 5 positions that can score. Celtics are struggling right now because Cavs completely ignore 1-2 positions of the Celtics offense and the Celtics can't score enough.

Great offense beats great defense almost every time. Just ask Kyrie Irving.

I think he was just on a bad rotation playing behind vucevic and ibaka. Guy proved his whole career that he can rebound and protect the paint. Still a bit overpaid though.

If you want to compete against the Warriors and Cavs, you have to be able to defend at a high level for stretches and at least moderate level for most of the game. Trying to simply outscore them (esp the Warriors who play insane defense) would be a losing proposition. IT is already a liability on defense Stevens tries hard to mask. Vucevic will make matters worse. As a bench big, I wouldn't mind him I guess. As much as Green can get hot shooting, we've been killed on the other end whenever he steps on the floor with IT.

Zaza has never been known as a guy you can rely on for offense. Thompson's points mostly comes from putbacks, rolls to the rim, and free throws. So I don't really believe you need 5 guys to be offense-oriented.
