Long-time Celtics equipment manager John Connor, who often engaged in epic post-practice shooting contests with Pierce, kept unworn pairs of Pierce's signature Nikes on hand at both the team's practice facility and at TD Garden, according to assistant general manager Mike Zarren.

You can debate Pierce's place in Boston sports history. But to say that his number shouldn't be retired and question what he did for this organization makes me legitimately angry. He was the Boston Celtics for an entire generation. My generation. I never got Bird, McHale, Parish, Russell, Hondo or Cowens. But I sure as hell got Paul Pierce. We all get it. He hates basketball. But show a little respect for the dude who gave everything this his team. This puck head stands up and cheers when toothless brain dead hockey players punch each other in the face. But he can't recognize that the truth carried the flag for the greatest franchise in the history of the NBA for almost 2 decades?
Yeah we have a lot of retired numbers. Celtics fans appreciate and love their team. The bruins hang a lot of banners too that shouldn't be up there. Take a look at all the division title banners that are hanging so it looks like their keeping up with the C's.
Go to hell Felger.
