Does Kyrie have a legitimate shot at being MVP next year?

Post#1 » by TDotOh » Tue Sep 12, 2017 3:48 am

I'm a Raptors fan so I come in peace but Kyrie just looks like a great fit in a Celtics uniform. I want to know what you guys think in terms of if kyrie has a shot at an MVP? Also, this video gets me way to hyped I cant wait to watch game 1 against the Cavs.

Raptors fan bowing down to us making a thread about Kyrie.

To answer your question: he'll be in the conversation but I don't see him winning it with Durant, Westbrook and possibly Lebron being in the mix again.

There is a non-zero chance he is the closest thing to Curry as you can get next season. His ability to shoot is phenomenal and I'm excited to see Brad force him to rip off 9 threes a game. But no, he's not gonna win the MVP.

Weird answer: Yes, I think Kyrie will have an MVP-type campaign season. But at the same time, Hayward will be Boston's best player. Doesn't make sense, I know. (Or I'm just not good at explaining things).

Also, give me ALL the hype videos!

Edit: Lebron might win it one last time. Russ has PG, Harden has CP3, KD & Curry have each other. Kawhi is my guy though.

Yes, if we win the East and he's as good as he can be. And if he gets to shoot glowing green basketballs out there to this theme music, forget it -- **** in the bag! (awesome vid btw)

I think Russ will still be in the conversation. Durant definitely will be though. If he's healthy he's poised to have an absurd year.

Yep, he'll still be among top 5. Just not like last season where he and Harden were clearcut frontrunners. Their usage will go down for sure and Russ won't put up same ridiculous numbers. Giannis is another potential candidate.

Maybe. But with a far more balanced team offensively than last year I'm hoping we are going to move away from the hero ball that MVP voters love. Brads system should help Kyrie get good looks and occasional gaudy stats. But I'm going to judge Kyrie as much on how well he involves the rest of the team than whether he can score 28 a night. Come playoff time we may need him to put the entire team on his shoulders. Right now we're trying to build team chemistry and see what all our new components are capable of.

Listen to Mike Gorman and watch Kyrie run his team as a rookie.

Kyrie will be a legitimate MVP candidate.

Steph/kd , cp3/harden , westbrook/george all cancel each other out imo. So that leaves lebron, Leonard and ad as favorites to me. Kyrie is definitely a dark horse along with a couple others.
I voted kyrie on the general board for him to be mvp for one reason only, well 2 . A darker horse pick and if IT can get 5th in voting under Brad stevens then I believe he can get 1st if he beast out.

Probably not.

Lebron will put up massive numbers if IT misses time. Kawhi keeps getting better. Harden/Westbrook will see decreases in volume with the additions of CP3/PG13, but I wouldn't count them out of the running. AD could very well be back in the running this year. Steph/Durant will dominate as usual.

Only chance is if the Celtics win 60 and have the second best record in the league. Even then, I doubt he puts up better numbers than IT did last year.

Don't think so, IMO comes down to Lebron and Kawhi this year with Westbrook and Harden acquiring sidekicks respectively. Remains to be seen how Kyrie and Hayward work together but I view it as a near perfect match
