Sadly, this thread seems a waste as the Lakers right now are too good to finish in the 2 - 5 range, unless there's some Lottery luck involved, and Ainge is likely to move the Celts own pick in whatever deal he pulls off before the Deadline - 2018 could be the year with out a Draft... And no Second Round pick either, the Celts are too good, so their pick will convey. We need a 2019 Draft thread. :)

Ayton looks like a monster against some scrub team. He's going to be very physically imposing even in the NBA. Has the body to play right away and by the time he's 23 or 24 he's going to be a force in the paint.

Missouri scrimmaged Kansas and Porter Jr played 23 min, 21 points, 6-20 FG, 2-9 from 3, 7-8 from FT, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 stl, 2 blk, 3 TO, 4 PF

Bagley went for 16 and 6 in his debut

From what I've heard Doncic has been lighting it up in Europe too.

We need the lotto gods to shine on us 1 more time.

Ayton looks to me like a carbon copy of Ewing in his college days. The combo or size, strength, athleticism, balance. I could def see him going #1.

He could be the player that reignites the great center talk again. There actually are a ton of good bigs in the league right now, but we still mostly talk about perimeter players. A guy like this could give renewed interest from Cousins, Davis, Towns, Embid, Gobert, Jokic,Valanciunas, et al... We could actually see the rebirth of the center happen almost overnight if Ayton turns out to be as good as some think.

After we get Okafor then we will get the 3rd pick in the draft. We then will have the 3rd pick from 2015,16,17, & 18 on the roster.

Hard to get excited about this draft with the lakers playing better than what I thought they would. But heh, they c ould always move up a few spots in the lottery and the kings look worse than what i thought they would.

Still very early days.

Wait till the season wears on and we see the Lakers slow down a bit. I cannot see them sustaining the level of defence they're playing right now.

Over in Europe, thru 5 Euroleague games, Luka is is leading the league in points per game while posting a .705 TS%. Per 36 he is posting 29/9/5 line while shooting 50% from the field, 41% from 3, and 90% from the line. He is still merely 18! That is ****ing crazy. He's quite a bit slower than Bron perhaps, but that won't stop him from being a rich man's Draymond Green.

From what I have read about him, he sounds an awful lot like a young Dwight Howard.

If Dwight could shoot 3's and run the court like a guard.

From Dwight's nbadraft.net capsule:

NBA Comparison: Kwame Brown

Strengths: A true talent. Dwight is one of those special talents who has it all. He posseses wonderful ball handling, passing, shooting ability and a super quick first step. Combine all that with an uncanny ability to see the floor and you have something special. People with his height and ability to play the perimeter and pass the ball are hard to find. Dwight also has great leaping ability and quick hands which allow him to get his share of points in the paint. His athletic prowess allows him to rack up rebounds and alter shots frequently. Defensively he is everywhere snatching balls, tipping shots, running back on D, he does it all. Dwight is an extremely hard worker and a very coachable kid. Quite simply, he's the whole package with gigantic upside.

Weaknesses: Needs to develop more of a low post game...Tends to rely on his athleticism too much, which is common at this age. Has good footwork, but doesn't use it enough. Tends to drift to the perimeter too often. Strength may be an issue down the line if has asked to consistently play in the post, but the potential is there for him to add it...Dwight at times gets too into the game and picks up cheap fouls...Will need to make the transition from center to PF.... Other than that, a wonderful talent.

Notes: An honor student.....Dwight used to be a guard, which explains why his perimeter skills are so developed. Quoting an opposing player, "He's everywhere."....A bit of throwback, has some old fashion style to his game.....The potential here is scary.

Don't care about no one in this draft but Doncic.
I'm still hoping for karma to return, bite Magic on the ass and give us pick #2

Bagley and Ayton both super impressive in their debuts. 25/10 for Bagley and 19/12 for Ayton. This pick is absolutely huge for this franchise going forward

I wish we hadn't put such narrow conditions on the Laker pick option because it's looking like top 10 in this draft (2018) could be better than top 5 in the next (2019).

And to me, the Laker pick is looking like 7,8,9 range...

Pretty sure just this last year the #7 team moved up to 3 (and then tranfered to the sixers)

Wouldn’t go that far lol but I’m not a huge fan of him. He’s 5th on my personal big board behind:

1. Ayton
2. Bagley
3. Porter
4. Bamba

I think Bagley would be the perfect 5 for you guys if Ainge and Stevens want to go all out with the versatility. The jump shot is a work in progress but has good form on it so you gotta hope there is potential there. The combination of size/athleticism/motor is just so fun to watch, the kid is everywhere defensively and on the boards and can be the type of guy that can put up 20 points a game without ever having to draw up a play for him.

The beast which they call Ayton would also be a great fit as well.

Still think this draft drops off significantly after 5. 2019 in my opinion has a big 3 in Zion, RJ, Cam and some my say big 4 if you add in Bol Bol. The problem with that draft is its mostly versatile wing players in the top and you guys are already set on that. I guess in an ideal world, you could make a trade with Philly for say Okafor and offer one of your 1sts and in return get Okafor and get Philly to give up the restrictions on that LA pick. That way even if the LA pick falls outside of the top 5 say to #7, it would be easier to put together a package to trade up into the top 5 to get one of the bigs.

Still need to put in the work just as hard as any other year, need to know where you rank these players incase of lottery luck, or trades.
I don't believe in statistics. There are too many factors that can't be measured. You can't measure a ballplayer's heart. -Red Auerbach

Or you get the draft wide talent like in the 2015 draft which is starting to shape up like a fantastic draft.
