NBA trade rumors season is coming, will the Celtics be quiet?By Jeff Clark | Dec 12, 2017, 10:04pm EST
https://www.celticsblog.com/2017/12/12/16770538/nba-trade-rumors-season-is-coming-will-the-boston-celtics-be-quietIf you didn’t already know, December 15th is the first day that teams can trade most of the free agents that just signed this offseason. Or as Bill Simmons likes to call it “Trade Machine Day.”
On December 15, NBA teams can officially trade almost anyone signed from last summer. Any type of player ranging from Johnson (one year, $11 million) to Tim “I’m Overpaid but Fun to Have Around” Hardaway Jr. (four years, $71 million) to Nerlens “I’m Very, Very Available” Noel (one year, $4.2 million) to Old Man Vince Carter (one year, $8 million) to Token Handshake Specialist (one year, $1.4 million) can be crammed into any deal.
There has been next to no trade buzz surrounding the Celtics and for good reason. The team was so radically revamped this summer that it doesn’t make a lot of sense to change things up too much until we know what we have. Also, so far everything we have seems to be working pretty well. Finally, we don’t even know everything we have yet because our Max free agent has only played 5 minutes and may not see the court till next season.
So if it ain’t broke, will Danny Ainge still try to fix it? He might. I wouldn’t put anything past him (like never ever again after this summer).

Here's the "trade season primer" from CelticsHub c/o Ryan Bernardoni:
http://www.celticshub.com/2017/12/10/celtics-goals-wants-targets-start-trade-season/Favors and/or Tyreke Evans for me. Both can help a lot in the playoffs, but I don't think Ainge is willing to trade assets for rentals with a low likelihood of re-signing them to cheap contracts. I'm not even sure how available they are / they will be. I believe we're staying dormant until buyout season. But I've been wrong ten bajillion times before so we probably get Anthony Davis here before Pierce's retirement ceremony.

a few of your trade ideas are not favorable for the Celtics. You're giving up too much in these deals. For example, Noel is zero value right now across the league. So why would Ainge want to give up Morris who is a lot better (when healthy) AND other stuff to get him? Clippers are not getting Marcus Smart.. That's just not happening. Lou Williams can score, but they wouldn't get anything more than Nader and their pick back, MAYBE.

Lou Williams, is making $7M. -- Without the DPE, you'd have to give up someone, and a pick.
Smart, I'm actually not in favor of Trading. Though, Danny may go that route, instead of upping his Contract.
Noel, has got to be better than a hobbled Morris, who can't seem to get on the Court.
Nader, traded with Morris, is more to free up space, and ourselves of a Sub-NBA talent.

Lou w/ the DPE is probably the better route. Our big man rotation is fine with Horford/Baynes/Theis and Morris when he returns. I feel like it would be easier to find a serviceable big man on the cheap then it is to find a guy like Lou Williams who can absolutely fill it up off the bench. Knowing Danny, he's probably thinking about bringing in guys that none of us are even thinking about right now

Danny has always liked Tyreke.

Any interest in Nikola Mirotic? They'd have to move the DPE for someone like Vince Carter and then deal VC and an asset or 2 to Chicago..
Mirotic can stretch the floor and score off the bench.

The deadline has passed for that to happen unfortunately.

When Danny was last asked about this on 98.5 a week or two ago he stated that they don't want to rush to use it in case someone on the roster gets hurt and there's a glaring hole to fill. He said that, at the time of the interview, there really weren't any holes that needed to be filled. It kinda confused me since its been obvious for quite a while that we need a bench scorer (and is the basis of what we've been talking about on here with guys like Lou and Reke). It seems like Danny isn't as concerned about this as we are (though he could be now that Morris is going to be out for a while).

It has? I believe they can move Vince Carter's contract on the same day??

we can, just cannot add players to the trade. so player would need to be around 12.5 or less in salary.

Random, but those who wouldn't or think Danny wouldn't include Tatum (as much as I like him) in a trade for AD is out of their minds.

I think he would. But do you think/think Danny would include both Tatum and Brown?

if we're including Anyone, then . . .
How about?:
Al Horford = Greg Monroe & Tyson Chandler.

That might be a bit much. But if things fall into place (Hayward comes back healthy, LA pick lands) then it definitely should be considered.
Kyrie
Hayward
Horford
Davis
Surround them with shooters and you're looking at a something special.

I thought we had to send out Horford in any AD deal to match salaries, but I could be wrong. Can we do it with a combo of Morris, Baynes, Smart? If so, I agree, that is a championship quality lineup.

Think Morris and filler (Yabs, Nader, Larkin) gets close enough to match salary, but I wouldn’t bet on Mirotic...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but next season we can do Tatum, Brown, Morris (expiring) and Rozier (expiring) for AD .... Believe that works money wise.

What in the world has people interested in Lou Williams ? I'd rather have the guards we got let's count them. Irving, brown, smart, rozier, larkin. If you add Williams that's 6 and as much as I loathe and hate on smart I would rather have him. Now larkin straight up ok sure but that doesn't work. Plus then we got another guard that will want minutes. We need more depth at center horford baynes and theis are playing well but could use another guy here. Also I'd like to add are tradable assets are smart (due to his deal pending) and morris (due to i guess speculation of pt)
rookies nader, semi, yabs out of those 3 semi plays the most but can't score for crap. I can't see anybody wanting the rookies outright. Maybe to make the dpe work ok but we should hang on to irving, brown, tatum, horford, baynes, theis, rozier, larkin.
