Jayson Tatum: 2nd Coming of the Truth

Thought I'd start an official Jayson tatum thread since I wanted to post about him, but shockingly couldn't find a thread dedicated to the origin of our hopes and dreams.

What's going on with him lately? I haven't been able to catch a game since the break, but it looked like he had a good first game coming back from All star, but then after that he's been struggling and Brad Stevens has been cutting his minutes.

There is no second coming of the Truth. Indeed there was no first coming, only an acknowledgement and realization from Great Aristotle of what was already cast from the orange divine on green parquet.

I don't think he knows that he's 19.

Don’t know about The Truth, but he kind of reminds me of Kevin McHale with his long reach and the way he finishes around the hoop.

Jayson Tatum is the first Jayson Tatum.

Making him the 2nd coming of the Truth is cutting his potential short.

Not a knock on Pierce as he's one of the ATG of the Celtics.

I'm only talking about Tatum's potential. We'll have to witness and grow with him to see him maximize his potential though.

Different team situations and college experience, but here are their rookie seasons stats compared:

PP (Age 21) - MPG: 34.0 / .439% FG / 3pFG% .412 / FT% .713 / 16.5 PPG / 6.4 R / 2.4 A

JT (Age 19) - MPG: 30.7 / .472% FG / 3pFG% .429 / FT% .829 / 13.4 PPG / 5.0 R / 1.4 A

Pierce had a lot more "guard" in his game in my opinion. Tatum seems straight up forward to me.

I know that might not be the most descriptive of ways of putting it... but as soon as I read this sentence I 100% knew what you meant and completely agree.

I think people forget as a rookie Pierce came to a much worse team and pretty much dropped 3 aspg and 2 steals per game.

Jaylen has more of the herky jerky bullish style Pierce had. It's almost like the truth split into 2 aspects and manifested in the Jays acquired with the Nets picks

His early-season 3P% was unsustainable and it inevitably came back down to Earth. The 50%+ on 3's to start the season was a mirage. Take that away and he gives 12/4 and not a lot else. FT% is good, but he's no playmaker.

A beast but mature earlier than the truth but the truth long game was dope. I see a different player than the truth here now injuries barred he can be a all nba player.
