Ante Zizic

Post#1 » by Gant » Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:24 pm

Just going by the box scores...

Ante Zizic is finally getting some minutes in Cleveland and is doing ok. Playing a modest 68 minutes in the last 5 games, he is 19-23 from the field for 41 points, with 21 rebounds and 4 blocks. That's 20.5-10.5-2 per 34 minutes.

His slow acclimation to the NBA is not unexpected, but these are more like the stats he got in Europe. He could be a good player down the line. (Footspeed is the main problem for him, and I haven't seen him live except for like two minutes, so I don't know about his defense.)

I watched the Cavs vs Lakers game a few nights ago. Zizic looked pretty good, going for 15 points and 7 rebounds and a couple of blocks. He played about 20 minutes and played really well.

Yea, he's a really decent talent. Who knows if Yabu will be capable of contributing. We will see tho, still time ;)
Good assessment:

I always thought Zizic would be good. I much would have preferred added Yabu to the trade instead of Zizic.

I'm sure Danny would have too. The Cavs wanted Zizic for a reason, he's going to be an NBA player.

His lack of lateral quickness and skill limitations will probably stop him from ever having a big NBA role, but he's huge, physical, and has a sense of the floor. There's always a place for that.

I'd expect he puts up nice per 36 #s but never stays on the court long.

Yah that's the problem. I sensed most thought he was going to be a starting caliber player. He's a bench specialist. Top 10 player in the last draft projection was ridiculous, but he's still should be decent.

Not missing him in the long run, I'm good with Theis.

Yabusele appears to be a bust. It would be nice for him to actually contribute but he hasn't done anything so far.

Yabs was a long shot from the start. I guess when you have like 20 picks you can reach. I fully expect him to be back in the CBA by next year. He isn't an NBA player.

Yabu year 1: 1.8/1.4/.4 on 40/36/56 shooting

Zizic was the most underrated piece of the Kyrie trade.

Jae Crowder is once again a plus/minus champ on an overachieving team.

If the season ended today, Nets (Cavs) would have a fifty fifty chance of landing a top 3 pick in one of the stronger looking drafts in recent history.

It is tough to land a player of Kyrie's caliber, but the jury is still out.

he has been playing very well on both ends of the court. Good at finishing at the rim and has some post game.

I know it's the lolsuns but here's some highlights from last night:

I wonder if he sticks in the rotation when Kevin Love returns

Would he be an improvement on Baynes in the line up? What does everyone think?

In a couple of years, most likely yes.

Yeah, they went out for lunch after reaching a verdict of "the Celtics won that trade" in about 30 seconds.

You want IT, Jae, Zizic and the pick back?

Doubt it. He barely played last night, and they started Jeff Green at center in that game. He's just not ready enough on defense.

Tend to agree, guy makes Monroe look like Terry Rozier. He’s slow as molasses
