Better current player: Brown or Tatum?

Recently, I've been seeing a lot of threads on the Celtics future on the GB, specifically about Brown and Tatum. Most users seem to think that Tatum is already better than Brown and "it's not close". What are your thoughts? I tend to flip-flop on it honestly as both have some duds and great games.

I believe Brown is the better defender and his versatility is key but that Tatum is the more polished offensive player right now.

Brown: 14.4 PPG, 5 RPG, 1.6 APG, 46.5% FG, 39.1% 3PT, 64.4% FT, 13.5 PER, 104 ORtg, 104 DRtg, -0.1 BPM, 4.3 WS, .100 WS/48, 1.0 VORP, 21.2 USG%

Tatum: 13.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.6 APG, 47.5% FG, 42.9% 3PT, 82.8% FT, 15.1 PER, 111 ORtg, 103 DRtg, 0.9 BPM, 6.8 WS, .138 WS/48, 1.7 VORP, 19.4 USG%

Who is the better player currently?

They’re both honestly equal.

Tatum is better now but it is very close. Brown has some nights where he is a beast, and I think Browns potential is still higher. nice to have both these young studs :)

Brown plays better in big games but I think Tatum is slightly better...super close though

As an unwelcome outsider, I prefer Brown's style, mentality, and think he will have a brighter future.

Tatum is the better/more complete player right now. Of late he's struggled because the fact that the roster has fallen apart has just affected him more, that's all. He is 19 and more of an off-ball player in the halfcourt.

That said, Brown has been fantastic, and with his makeup, he's easy to believe in.

Tatum is way more skilled. Brown's progress from his 1st to 2nd year has been great though. If Tatum makes a similar jump, he's an all star next season. Both have star potential.

Neither are as good as Saric.

Both are fantastic players and have bright futures but can't hold a candle to #28 though.

Tatum because he has more basketball skills. I can't wait to see Tatum next year after he hits the gym this summer and gets stronger. That doesn't mean Brown is not a good player though. At the rate he is improving he may end up being the better player in the near future. He is way more confident in himself than Tatum is but that may because of their age difference and the fact that Brown has been in the league for a year already.

I am a huge fan of Jaylen. His mentality, his work ethic, his passion, his hunger; and that's just his mental makeup. His physical traits are through the roof.

He has all the tools necessary to become a superstar in this league, he just needs to put it all together and I have no doubt he will. Jaylen is going to be a big time player in this league.

Jayson is a perennial 25ppg scorer. He is on his way to being a sniper, a marxman. A Pierce/young Melo hybrid. Simply put, he will get buckets.

I look forward to watching their growth over the coming years.

All I'l say is I have been very happy with Brown's improvement, and knowing what we have in Tatum, and seeing how raw Brown was last year, I'm actually thrilled that this is up for discussion.

If someone told me last year that Brown would make 7 threes in a game while scoring 32 points this year, I'd lmao, and I'm a huge Brown fan.

The way I see it..Tatum can do everything Brown can do..Brown can do everything Tatum can..except..handle the ball.
Brown in my eyes, would be the better player if he had handles IMO. That to me really separates the two...if Brown can clean up his dribble as his career goes on, he will be a problem and will be just as good as Tatum down the line. Nobody can stop a player that strong, that fast and that athletic if he has above average ball handling skills.

Both are garbage.

You've been warned.
