Kings were 7th worse last season before jumping in the lottery. They could very possibly be about 9-10th worst this season given how horrid teams such as Knicks and Cavs appear to be. I fully suspect Suns, Mavs, Griz, and Clips could all have worst records in the WC not to mention the crappy EC teams. All of them outside Sac will have incentive to eventually tank too.
9-10 seems high to me.
In the Western Conference I only see the Suns and Mavs as potentially worse teams. Grizz have too many vets to bottom out unless they are destroyed by injuries. Clips are too gritty and Doc won't tank, so I think they'll still be better.
In the Eastern Conference you're looking at the Cavs, Knicks, Magic, Hawks and Bulls. I think all 5 of those teams
could potentially be worse than the Kings. I don't think they all will be though. There's some solid talent on each roster and I expect a couple of them to rebound and still be better, especially being in the East.
So I think 7th/8th is about right, with upside if things go poorly with the Kings or well with any of the others.
I expect the Kings to run hot and cold with all their young kids. They'll have some good stretches, but I also expect some long bouts of woeful play and at the end of the day they'll settle in as a bottom 5 team. They've got some really nice players, I just don't anticipate Joerger being able to make them a consistently winning team.
I'm hoping that there are 4-5 teams competing for the 8th spot in the East and that keeps a team or two from leaning hard into the tank.
