Paul Pierce Sees a Great Celtic in Jayson Tatum

Post#1 » by ConstableGeneva » Fri May 25, 2018 12:58 pm

Yet another Tatum thread. I'm not obsessed. YOU'RE obsessed!

Read on Twitter

For now, Pierce has nothing to teach Tatum. Key words: “for” and “now.”

“No, I don’t want to mess up his run, man,” Pierce said. “He’s fine. I would love to work with him, though, this summer. I’ll probably call Danny (Ainge) and see if that’s possible, but I would love to work with him. I see some things in his game where I know I could help.”

One of the great players in Celtic history helping a kid accelerate the process to becoming another.

Red Auerbach just smiled and lit another cigar.

Pierce is exactly the right guy to help. Give Tatum a few of Pierce's go to moves and the league is done for.

I saw it in the summer league. Don't i get credit?

The kid can get his own shot, has length and a motor. His defense, athleticism and 3-point shooting were his weaknesses coming into the NBA.

Maybe college ball is a dumb developmental league because he had all the tools.

The real story here is that Coach K sucks.

Hopefully he works hard this off-season like Jaylen did last. He needs to improve at finishing. Especially through contact.

Pierce is really going out on a limb here considering the kid was on the All Rookie team, arguably the best player in his draft class, and had one heck of a performance in the playoffs.

Well, from before the season, Pierce did say that Tatum reminded him of a more mature version of himself, even as a rookie. Which is a pretty freaking massive compliment. Its not like he changed his mind about Tatum or anything.

He will, he’s remarkable in being able to do it already with a slender frame. My only risk for Tatum is that something goes wrong if he’s trying to get stronger to play the 4 and does it in the wrong way. Isn’t likely, with good people coaching and training him, but that kind of thing has happened - somebody bulks up and loses motion, or touch, or gets stuck struggling in a different role and has adapted too much to go right back to the old one.

Tatum’s got great instincts, subtleties, and he’s already a versatile and intuitive scorer - but I don’t want people losing track of Jaylen’s upside..

That is a strength issue. He just needs to get stronger.

TRUTH gonna fine tune Baby Truth this summer.
Baby Truth gonna get stronger so he can finish better through contact.
Baby Truth gonna become like the TRUTH - UNGUARDABLE!

PS Perfect pre-game thread. Our young studs gonna earn a Finals spot tonight. OO **** RAH!
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

One of the most impressive thing I see about Tatum right now is that he’s already good at drawing fouls something Mitchell isn’t. Can you imagine this kid when he gets shredded and gains more experience? He probably has arguably the scariest potential out of all the young guys in the nba right now. There’s hardly any flaws in his game.
