I've honestly wondered why LA doesn't get more crap for drafting Ball over Tatum. I know that he actually plays and has some talent, but it seems like a pretty big mistake that was obvious before the draft.

I just don't agree. He did shoot it terribly. But i mean his #'s were very comparable to Smarts lol. For a 20 year old kid w/ a ton of pressure on him? Plus he had a bum knee. He wasn't good, but i think he's getting hated on a lot. If Boston has a rookie who avg'd 10-7-7-2-1 a game we'd be all over him lol.

I could definitely see him getting his 3fgas down to 5 on like a 34% clip. I could easily see him getting like 13-8-6 next year on like 42-34-?? avg's. Idk. I like Lonzo. I'm not even anti Lavar. Just think he go about it wrong.
I'm expecting real solid growth for Ball next year. Tho i don't think it's in LA.

This is a hysterical take. If the draft were redone with hindsight being 20/20. Lonzo Ball wouldn't be a lottery pick. He shoots 45% from the free throw stripe. His shot is as bad as Bill Cartright's free throw mechanics and maybe worse. Lonzo ball with his baggage would probably be selected in the 20's somewhere in a redraft. He'd probably be on a playoff team cause he gets drafted so low. There is not a chance in hell the Sun's give a draft pick with a top 5 protection on it. I would assume they'd put full lottery protections on it. Basically, I'm saying, Lonzo Ball's a bust at this point. Likely out of the league after his rookie contract. his rookie season was as bad as Austin Rivers rookie season accept Austin had a pillow to fall back on with his Dad helping him through his career. Lonzo's got his dad. I'm not saying Phoenix won't take a flyer on Lonzo, I'm just saying, knowing what they now know, Lonzo's a salvage project. He's a car wreck.

More than happy for the Spurs to wait this one out and screw the Lakers plans, but feels more like this is them using their last bit of Kawhi leverage (trade for him and you'll get LeBron) to get the most out of LA. I think LA caves before COB tomorrow.

You're not wrong, but I think Philly giving up a potentially high draft pick to trade out of the slot with a RotY candidate to get a player who couldn't even play in his rookie year was such a dramatic and high profile failure that it overshadowed any mistakes other teams might have made throughout the draft. On top of that, we got a reminder of the trade at the draft lottery when discussing the Laker pick odds, and will get another reminder at the next draft lottery. Not that Lonzo Ball doesn't show up in the media all the time, but he doesn't get get directly compared with Tatum a lot because the only link between the two is Ball was picked before Tatum.

That's my guess. Use the leverage to get what they view as the best haul from LA the trade that they can get. I'm hoping that all of this still has nothing to do with Kawhi though.

And I think Smart's no good either. You have to be able to hit your shots. I'm praying Smart goes to another team cause I'm through with him. I was an early Rozier fan on here when he was getting hated on and he's bloomed into the player I thought he could become. I don't think Smart's the heart and soul of this team. I think he looks good in our system. On a lesser team with worse coaching, I think he looks like **** just like Jae Crowder looks like **** now with the Jazz. That's a credit to Brad Stevens coaching genius. Somebodies gonna pay that guy 12 million dollars and I pray to God, it's not us. If the Celtics go over 8 million on that guys, we're hit. He's not worth more. If he goes to Dallas, he'll be exposed and he wont have IT, or Kyrie or whoever to handle the scoring load so he can look good on defense. he'll be tasked with the scoring and he just flat out sucks at it. All his layups are rim rattlers. He's never swished a layup in his life. His touch is garbage. But with that said, I take him all day over Lonzo. Lonzo is the ultra weak version of Ben Simmons another broken player who can't shoot so he won't shoot. Nice triple double stats, loosing basketball player. Lonzo is a super bust.

I guess that you must be right. LA are lucky that Fultz was such a disaster in his first season. I don't know if Lavar Ball has been more of an annoyance for them or a godsend since it actually gives the illusion of Ball being relevant.
