General Boston Sports Thread

Post#1 » by rickrolled » Sun Jul 22, 2018 8:54 pm

Thought we should have a thread on this. Who approves?

I'll start with this, the Red Sox are 70-31 after they beat Detroit today. Only eleven wins away from being 50 games over .500. Playoffs are a different ball game though but impressive nonetheless.

I approve. But I think on real gm they can try to get you to use the other forums here for other sports too.

I pretty much only come here. I would not mind a general sports thread.

There are these threads on the other forums, but they are actually so dead that there are probably tons of spiders there.

Interest seems lukewarm at best for the moment. The poll is up until sunday.

Maybe when NFL training camp opens it will be more interesting. Thing is the other boards are like a desert. Only traffic is on NFL general board, but its a cesspool just like the bball GB.

It's a good idea.
We'll probably see more activity, when the other sports start up again.

The Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox all had a record during their last season (the season is still going for the Sox) at 13 - 3. I imagine that's the first time a city had three of it's major teams with that kind of record!

I always really liked Jimmy G, not sure how I feel about him now that he is on the Niners, but I am curious to see how he does as a full time WELL PAID starter. I think I will be watching SF pretty closely this fall.

With him talking himself into being better then Brady, that would have been best off not said out loud.......but confidence is important too.

Red Sox beat the Twins to win the series 3-1. Next up Philly, beat those suckas, Yankees after that..they probably have the best starting pitchers in the league. After Philly series, it's 4 at home vs Sabathia, Severino, Happ, Tanaka..

Sale v Sabathia
Porcello v Severino
Eovaldi v Happ (both 1-0 with new teams)
Price v Tanaka

I wonder why we don't take a chance with Dez? He could end up in Cleveland, just sad.

Wow, the Sox are still rolling along! They won tonight in the 13th to move 42 games over .500. Also, they just signed veteran Ian Kinsler from the Angels to play 2nd (since Pedroia will be out for probably the rest of the season).
Boston is now a season high 6 games ahead of the evil empire!
