Stupid for the NBA to not do Lakers/Celtics for the Marquee matchup. LeBron vs Kyrie, all the history between the teams, would've been perfect. It's all good, next year we'll get the primo matchup with GSW after our finals victory this year!

August is the worst month every year. Longest time until NBA really starts up again.

Can we just fast forward to opening night already?

Not interesting at all. Looks like the NBA are trying to force a rivalry between the celtics and sixers. Playing the same team twice loses it appeal.

They play every team at least twice though.

Warriors are about to destroy the Lakers on christmas day. It is going to be all about lebron. The schedule makers got this one wrong. It shows how the NBA keeps disrespecting the celtics. Furthermore, it also has to do with the lakers having lebron. It should have been Celtics vs Lakers, or Celtics vs Warriors. Celtics are going to play the sixers at least a few times during the season. Why have them play each other on opening day/Christmas. It is whatever.

Not on two of the most-watched games of the year though.

Last year it was the Cavs in the opener and the Wizards on Christmas. This made sense, obviously the top two East teams in the opener and a Playoff Rival from the year before on Christmas. Would it have made sense to play the Cavs twice in that scenario, or the Wizards? Nah.

The league is trying to force the Celtics/Sixers, I'd have much rather it have been the Raptors, the actual real competition for the C's this year. But there are really only so many options, because you knew it'd be Lakers/Warriors. I just dont get how this could possibly be construed as the league disrespecting the Celtics lol.

Nba is always weird with the Celtics on Christmas matchups. For some odd reason they do their best to avoid lakers/Celtics instead they always preferred the Lebron matchup whether it was against Kobe and the lakers when the Celtics/Lakers matchup was intense and now since the lakers/Celtics matchup being relevant again...they go with Lebron vs the warriors again.

I don't think it's disrespect, I just wanted the Lakers

Sick of LBJ vs. the Warriors on Christmas and I'd rather have different matchups for different marquee dates.

Celtics vs Lakers (Kyrie vs Lebron)
Warriors vs Rockets( Kevin Durant vs Harden
Sixers vs either pacers or knicks
Raptors vs Spurs

Would have been a better matchup than the league came up with. You don't force rivalries. They happen on their own.

The Warriors are going to blow out the lakers. The league should have fun with that. Bring on the season.

Oh yeah i wasn't going at you about the disrespect part lol, i would love it to have been the Lakers but they get hard at the thought of LeBron and Warriors so knew that was coming. But hey man, smacking the Sixers down yet again in front of a national audience is always fun.

That’s why I love the NBA schedule. I have my summer off to enjoy the weather. Then as it ends basketball is back.

Cross-country games on Christmas prevent lots of players, coaches, team staff and media personnel from having the holiday with their family. Not saying that's the reason, but wouldn't doubt it.

NBA is NewYork Basketball Association

Bucks at Knicks, lowest ratings ever.

Of course, if the NBA put Toronto on TV, ratings would be even worse.

Toronto is very bad for sports, an empty SkyDome on TV right now, 50% of the fans there are Red Sox fans.

Stinks that they celebrate Christmas in Canada on a different day, would have been fun to see the Raptors play

Couple of things...

1. Boston would prefer not to play on Christmas if at all possible. This goes back to Red. And the allure of playing on Christmas is starting to wane some for players. But it's still an honor, no matter who you play.

2. Someone else mentioned it, but the league tries to avoid cross-country matchups, unless they are Finals rematches. Better experience for everyone involved.

3. Lastly, I was doing some looking around and came up with this:
