I just want to say, don't sleep on him this season. I'm a huge believer of JB He has insane hunger and drive and he isn't afraid of anyone. JB doesn't care that the team has 3 other all-stars, he's coming to play night in and night out. Let's get it ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

I love all the C's but I've been rooting for this guy the most since he first put on the jersey. Specifically, right around the first shot of this mix from his rookie preseason:
Guys who look like that making that shot tend to be pretty good. The 'he got so much better in his second season' argument never made sense to me -- just got more opportunity. But as Banners said, he has from day 1 looked like a S T U D. Hope he and Tatum stay humble and hungry and keep growing in all the right ways.

It's amazing that this potential all-star, is our 5th best player.

Love Jaylen, I'm looking forward to seeing him break out even more this year. Consistency is gonna be key. He can definitely bring monster games. Can he keep a high baseline too, esp with all the talent on the team? Can he keep focus on the defensive end every game? Whether it's his game to shoot a lot or not, he's always going to be taking the toughest wing assignment on D. It's tough to keep that up, and show off the improved handle & playmaking, etc all at the same time.

Oh wow I remember getting super excited after that first shot too

I have always been pretty intrigued by the relationship between Irving and Brown btw. On the entire roster, I have often felt these two goof around a lot the most together. (and yes I watch everything lol).
That fingers to the head thing they did they still do, they did it to each other after starting lineups announced after the second preseason game.

Two questions:
1) How grounded is JB in reality, suggesting that he and Gordon and Jayson all have similar games? (Hint: he's not a ball handler, play maker, or all-around offensive threat in skills, as the other two guys are.)
2) How does JB feel when Kyrie says he's excited to play with Gordon, who is the sort of SG he has always wanted to play in the same backcourt with?
Bonus question) Given #2 and that Kyrie has reportedly talked with AD about their playing together, do we expect Kyrie to go all LBJ on us and negotiate a JB (and TRo and RW3?) trade somehow, when allowed, to get AD here?

Big fan of J.B. and rooting for him hard. Saw him in person at this talk he gave at the Harvard Grad School of Ed where he wasn’t a polished speaker, but came across as thoughtful and genuine.
I have to admit, I wasn’t always a fan as I wasn’t impressed with him AT ALL at Cal. I watched a lot of PAC -12 games that year and remember the game Ainge went to see him at Arizona. Walton (tripping literally, but still bleeding green) called the game and was psyched Ainge was there and gushed all night over Jaylen in a really lackluster game for him.
Jaylen had a lot of lackluster games that season. Thanks and kudos to Ainge for seeing through that and seeing the talent and huge upside that he is heading for.
Jaylen and Ivan Rabb and Jabari Bird all got screwed in terms of developing their talent at Cal by that good recruiting but CRAP coach, Cuonzo Martin.
Hope J.B. is a C for a long time.

1. Maybe he meant that they share the same space as versatile wings and they can drive and all. BTW tatum isn't a playmaker at all, hayward playmaking and vision is like Lebron in comparison to tatum. 2. Hayward isn't a SG, he played as SG-SF his first years, in the last years he has played as SF-PF. So Brown shouldn't feel anything, just question irving basketball knowledge if what you said is true (the SG thing). I only heard that he wanted to play with hayward, not that he wanted to share the backcourt with a SG like hayward.

#2 is irrelevant, as Brad only sees the team as having 3 positions.

The point wasn't what Brad sees, but what Kyrie sees. And he made the statement a week or so ago, but the C's media barely covered it. And it is not a matter of direct competition between the two as much as a slight from Kyrie's perspective. (And I wouldn't go slighting Irving's BB knowledge.)
Also, to the OP, on playmaking Tatum has that ability more than we have seen emphasized. JB has to develop the capability to be there.
I think there's a decent chance Brown has a better year than Hayward and Tatum. I expect Jaylen to show significant improvement in the midrange and as a ball handler.

Until he becomes a good ball handler, he will be severely hamstrung. He NEEDS to add that to his game.

Agree, but I think he improved it a little last year, and would expect it will further improve this year. It may never be a strength, but he seems a hard worker, and I'd expect it to not be a weakness forever.

Meh...he might have meant more positional. All three are natural small forwards with enough versatility to play wing in Stevens system, the question being how many wings does Stevens want on the floor at once. All three can shoot. Brown is probably the best defensively, the worst of them in terms of ball-handling.
Brown strikes me as an intelligent guy...I think he'll put stock in what gets said in the Celts locker-room and how things shake out on court, but I don't think he's sweating throw-away lines to the media too much. Could be wrong, just my take.
My guess re: AD is more that plenty of Celts folks (whether Kyrie or Danny or whatever) will be trying to get in AD's ear about coming over. If there is a hint of 'maybe', then the potential deals will start being assembled. But I don't think anyone on the playing roster would be thinking that way yet. Just Danny and his toe-cutters (as they should).

I cant be the only one concerned about what it would take to get Davis. Im expecting big things from JB this year.
According to MIT Media Lab, Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown will be a guest speaker at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Friday and “discuss innovation, creativity, the intersection of basketball and culture, social justice, reflections on his career ahead, and his interests both on and off the court.”

Love Jaylen and think he could easily be the guy to take over the role of second in command next to Kyrie this year. Last year, the only thing that prevented him from being consistently really, really good were smaller nagging injuries (and that concussion.)
If he shoots the ball like he has been and that handle is even slightly improved, he’s a 20 PPG guy for us.
