Great win! It's so good to have basketball back. I love soccer and I love watching the Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox, but basketball is clearly the best sport in the world, and we finally have the team we are supposed to again.
Horford, Morris, Smart and Rozier all had big games. Horford made some ridiculous shots and played great defense (Hayward was outstanding defensively as well). Smart brought his normal defense and shot well and within his game. Morris made tons of huge shots.
Tatum clearly smokes it though.
I'll keep this short to get the thread going.
CS UP.

I'll vote Hayward just because I loved to see him back

Re: Victory Cigar!!! PHL 87 @ BOS 105 (1-0)
Great start to the season, showing the league whose conference this is.
The Good
Tatum and So Good. Name a more iconic duo. His timidness is gone and he is flashing every moment he can get. Look at him now, he's the star.
Horford's defense. He is making a great case for brains over brawn. So many contested shots and read Embiid like a children's book.
Baynes. Got bodied by Embiid a couple of times, but can't fault the dirty work guy plus he took over the mantle of Amir disrespect 3s. Controlled the boards so well.
Contributors
Smart. Not as much of that signature hustle, but made some shots and good help defense. Smart tax didn't kill us nor did it rear its head that much.
Hayward. Didn't kill the Celts when he was on the floor and made some nice pull ups and plays overall. Not all star form, but looked like a real positive on the floor.
Rozier. Showed he isn't dependant on starting, but needs to maintain composure. Hasn't shown his finishing around the rim isn't complete. That stepback 3 is cash money.
Morris. Some bad defense both 1 on 1 and help defense. Wasn't all bad as he hit a couple of threes and made Mook shots.
Jaylen. First half had tunnel vision plus poor finishing, leading to blocks. At least had a small run of his own in the end of the first. A bit behind on his off ball defense as he isn't springing for the contest like he did last season. His offense tightened up in the 2nd. Damn that thrunk was disgusting.
The bad
Kyrie. Really off the first half with his shot. It got better with the third, but never warmed up.
The offense wasn't as pass pretty as I hoped it would look, but it's all good when your ISO shots go in regularly. Needs to be worked out, but maybe this is the offensive identity of the team?
Sixers
Simmons was nice as always when he got transition/semi transition opportunities. Celtic's bench gave him that opportunity in the first quarter, but that quieted over time. Fultz looked pedestrian until the 2nd half. Jumper looks gingerly and it looks like he'll need more reps to take those shots at full game speed. Embiid looked scary at times, but the Celtics did a great job swalling him up forcing Embiid to miss shots and make bad passes. Sixers overall shot poorly from range. They are sorely missing spacing and they came out without an answer after the first quarter.

Rest Kyrie and Gordon until the playoffs ... we don't need them.
Tatum with the VC. Morris runner up.

It wasn't always pretty, but a solid win. Got to go with Jayson Tatum for the cigar. He is a superstar in the making. Others deserving a puff: Horford, Baynes, Morris, and Hayward. 81 more to go. Gonna be fun.

Clearly Tatum. He was the best player on the court.
Handsome.

Embiid gets it.
Otherwise, this was SOLID team ball. Nothing like what we saw in the preseason. I’m thrilled.

Tatum. and then Morris. Our bench is incredible. It could have won this game on its own, and in a way did. Maybe we’re too good to be true.

Hopefully now people stop worrying about there not being enough shots to go around, was such a silly worry.

The team we'll see around the 20th game will look entirely different from this team. And the team we'll see in the playoffs will also look entirely different.

We need to start thinking of a new name for this Philadelphia franchise now that we officially have ownership of them. Any suggestions?
