Embiid's quote for VC. Philly's our little brother right now. A step below.

Domination. Let's do the same to Toronto.

Just so happy this is done with and last years season opener is now a distant memory. I was nervous as hell at times early on, just had to see Gordon especially get through "the first game." Same with Irving but more so Hayward.

It was kind of an emotional game IMO to watch at times.

Now lets see how well they blossom this year, ignore the haters. 8-)

For me, the happiest part about this game is that Tatum attempted the most shots out of everyone. That's what I want to see from our future superstar/franchise/HOF/GOAT player.

- Voted Tatum, I really wanna hot take and say he's gonna lead us in scoring this year, but I won't. Yet.
- I actually liked Jaylen's game. He was aggressive and attacking. It didn't work out so well, but I loved the approach. I think Philly's length takes a little adjusting to. He was better in the 2nd half. I liked when Brad left him out the longest of the starters and he had minutes with Rozier and Morris.
- Hayward's defensive awareness was great, esp given the layoff. And he can find shots in the offense without hardly any plays. Man, he's gonna be good.
- Horford was great, Baynes too, esp in the 2nd half.
- Rozier is so crazy athletic. And he's using it effectively now. Man.
- Kyrie was doing the defer and then take over approach, but never got to the take over part since it wasn't ever needed. Not worried about him (duh).
- Morris was great knocking down shots, but struggled on D against Simmons. Nice work on the boards though.
- Smart was pretty chill.
- Theis is the 10th man in a 9.5 man rotation, and was a little rusty. He'll get there and claim some minutes.
- Speaking of which, minutes aren't gonna be much of an issue if we stay at 9.5 rotation. Gordon maybe gets 5 more, but a minute from 5 guys ain't a thing. Then rest, injuries, blowouts take care of the rest.

Sixers-wise:
- Embiid and Simmons are probably top 20 players by the end of the year. They may be overhyped, but they are still really good.
- Nobody else scares you on the roster. JJ when he gets hot, but the rest are just solid NBA players and/or young guys.
- Embiid was just quoting JJ on the rivalry thing. He only gets credit for repeating it.
- I still have them behind Cs, deer & raps at 4th at in the conference. WOuldn't be shocked if they drop to 5th behind the Pacers.

Not sure if this was ever brought up, but I think Kyrie is taking his role on the team of being mature now very seriously......I genuinely think he really likes this organization, A LOT.

He declined being on the SI cover. (the one with Hayward/Horford)

https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2018/10/16/kyrie-irving-sports-illustrated-gordon-hayward-al-horford

As usual, Irving made a deliberate choice regarding the Sports Illustrated omission.

“Big three, big four. . . ,” Irving told Sports Illustrated writer Andrew Sharp. “With this team, it just can’t happen. We all play a huge role in making this a championship-caliber team. I’m grateful for the opportunity, but if it’s not all of us, it’s none of us.”

“It’s helping out the younger generation,” Irving told Sharp. “They are the future of our league. Obviously, I’m presently here. But those guys are really, really special. I’m not the veteran that’s mad that everyone is taking more shots. Nah, man. I want to see a great team.”

Described by Sharp as “difficult to read” for outsiders, Irving presents a similar challenge to his own teammates.

“I mean, I think he’s hard to read among insiders,” said Horford. “You know, he’s a different guy.”

Of course at the end of the article you can tell he has a burning desire to beat the Warriors.

Voted tatum. Great play all round. Nice start for Hayward, irving's shot did not fall but also his 1st game back. With Baynes shooting 3s we can space the floor. Best of all no injuries!!!!!

Actually that is good for the rest of the NBA--just not any individual players looking for his share of the limelight.

F stats.

Gordon electrified the place. His presence alone. A beautiful white angel sent from Celtics heaven. Just seeing him out there was breathtaking. And all I hear about is damn negativity with his contract or how he looked blah blah blah. Seriously, a year ago he looked like he died.

Ok, so that explains your absence from the game thread. I was like, how dare she.

Good points on Hayward. A lot of people are unnecessarily harping on his tentaive play. It was his first damn game!

Tatum!

I thought he will have a more quiet game with all the stars on the team but he looked like the best player on the court. Extremely confident, strong, it really looks like he will be a superstar... cant wait to see him grow into one of the best players in the league...

And as a team we look really, really strong. In 6 months when Gordon gets his confidence and conditioning back our offense will look scary...

We can win it all this year if we stay healthy...

Kyrie loves playing on the road and quieting crowds. I predict a 20+ bounce back game.

We are on pace to add a top 5 pick to this roster. That's obscene.

I voted Tatum. He seems to understand that he's the best player on the floor now.

Horford and Baynes did great work tonight in the paint. Thank god we have Baynes. Dude can stand up to Enmbiid. Kyrie took good shots. They just weren't falling I have absolutely no concerns about him.

Obviously Tatum, but huge props to Morris for getting those buckets and picking up the slack with Ky and Hayward still trying to get up to speed.

Game 2 of Formality Tour. The teams with the current best record are meeting in the Finals.

So when are the officials going to stop coddling Ben Simmons? Simmons and Embiid are so overrated.

Both may be overrated but they are **** good players. Simmons can cover so much ground. Some of his moves are bron lite...very lite mind you but impressive skill set nonetheless.

The NBA hivemind will give Simmons consideration for MVP and he will not make a 3 all season. In an era when spacing the floor and shooting 3's is the blueprint for success he does neither. I sometimes question NBA "experts" acumen. If you cannot watch the 6 er's play and note their spacing issues we are watching a different game. It is not 1985 Benny.

Yep. If he doesn’t develop a little range he will never make that next level for sure and neither will the sixers.

Watched the game last night on non-Boston feed, wasnt the Philly feed though. And my god they never stopped praising the Sixers.

Just gushing about Simmons and Embiid every chance they had, and even made up opportunities.

But favorite part of night was Jalyen going overtop of Embiid, then shortly after Horford blocking embiid on the other end.

Lol

Fun game, and considering that 2/5s of the starting lineup played poorly....damn...
