He's too talented to be down that long, he's a 2nd year player who has his ups and downs.

Ridiculous.

I haven’t really seen anyone here give up faith on him. Obviously, he has a lot of potential. I think most people here are just acknowledging how poorly he’s played this season, which is true.

Im more venting about podcasters and everyone on the GB— the casual NBA fan if you will.

He averaged 19-10-2 on 45% shooting (15 shots) for his first 5 games
He averaged 11-5-3 on 34% shooting (10 shots) for his next 6 games
He’s averaged 24-6-2 on 50% shooting (16 shots) for his last 2 games.

He’s young. He went through a 6 game cold stretch and people have tried to kill him for it [all those Kobe takes...]. Dudes about to go Kyrie hot and everyone will pretend that nothing happened.

Even rookie Kobe Bryant one of the greatest players of all time came off the bench and was not a major factor early in his career at Tatum's age now. Do you remember when Kobe choked in the playoffs throwing up 3-4 airballs in a row against the Utah Jazz in 1997? Look at how that turned out and that was Kobe Bryant.

In his rookie year, Tatum was one of the players who carried us to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals (after the Celtics were proclaimed to be done with Kyrie's injury) last year in his year and you want to get on his case for a few mediocre games in the regular season?

With a bunch of Kansas teams in your profile, I'm going to start to be weary of your posts. I'm not even sure how that works out for a fan.

Yep, who on the team has played consistently better, both O and D considered?

The last two games looked pretty damn promising. It looks like he got the ball more often and it looked like he didnt feel like he had to go ISO as much to get his rhythm going. If Im Stevens just keep making sure he and Kyrie are getting touches. Get those two guys their touches, hopefully Horford can start making some open 3s. The offense should start to look a lot better.

He's a damn good young player with a ton of potential, but as usual, people throw around the "untouchable" label way too liberally. There's maybe 4-5 players in the league that are truly "untouchable".

Um what? I think you misinterpreted my post. I'm not saying he's a bad player, and I never have since he came into the league. Not really sure how you took this post as me hating on him. I love the guy. And also, I'm from Kansas and go to KU. Dad raised me a Celtics fan, since, you know, KC doesn't have a team.

Those Kobe takes were the worst. I had to dropped a few podcast because of that dumb take

He’s only touchable if he’s part of a package for someone like GIannis or Davis....but if you’re not a superstar, there is zero reason for Ainge to straight up trade Tatum for an all star level or below player.

Thats not good, he is making his life a lot more difficult with how he is playing. His ISO rate is a lot higher this year and he isnt using a guy like Kyrie to his advantage. He is still acting like its the playoffs and he doesnt have a reliable scorer to play with. Brad needs to tell him you either catch and shoot or catch and attack a close out. If none of those two options are there, pass it.

This is high school Tatum all over again.

Lol at the idea of Brad telling his players what a good and bad shot is

Multiple reports early last season talked about how Brad stopped Tatum from taking all his ISO long twos and stepping back for threes.

He also has the team's best defensive +/- amongst rotation players.

The team's DRTG with Tatum on the floor is 103.6. With Kyrie on the floor - 109.4. Al: 108.3, Morris: 112.2, Jaylen: 106.6, Smart: 104. DRTG is 113.5 with Tatum off the court.

Never worried about this kid. A bad 6 game stretch shouldn’t be a cause of concern after all the great things he’s being doing since then and most of the 100 games last season.

not knowing the future of tatums success would you trade him if it meant the celtics would get a ring? im not sure if i would, but i think mngt would make that trade. either way he belongs at small forward.

His value as a trade asset is the greatest when he's got a couple of years left on a rookie deal.

So after this season, teams may not want him in a trade for a superstar unless he clearly shows perennial all-star potential and a no-brainer to sign to a $30 million plus extension.

Yes.

Return to Boston Celtics
